I will say this - as someone very much on the "get rid of Trouba" train, I don't think replacing him with Mancini is good. Mancini needs a year in the AHL. Playing him at the NHL level right now is not ideal and would actually be worse than Trouba, IMO.

Meh, what I saw from Mancini was JUICE. Idga rats ass if he's a rook or will fizzle out after 50 games.

Let him ride that f***ing wave. I saw him slice and dice his way into the O-zone, against NHL teams.

Everybody here and they mother wanted Jones in the lineup for his transitional game.

Manc brings it too.

------

How high is the probability, that this is just hot air and Tuba is not getting dealt?

I can’t even imagine what the cost would be, probably Laf or Perreault as the headliner.
I love Gabe and would love to see him play here but I would trade him+ for Brady, who's in line for a 95 point season this year.

Who knows where Gabe will top out but theres a certainty factor with Brady

No no I think Mancini has a great skillset, I just don't think he's NHL ready and don't want him to be put in a position where he won't succeed.

Miller, Othmann, Kakko and picks for Tkachuk and Bernard-Docker? unfortunately that's probably not even close.

For Tkachuk? Nah. The Rangers just signed Lafreniere to a multi year extension. Perreault should be off limits for anyone not named Bedard, McDavid, or Mackinnon.

Miller, Othmann, and picks and prospects is the skeleton of the deal.
I don’t see why Ottawa would want miller with Chabot and Sanderson on the left. Other teams can beat that package pretty easily and the rangers don’t have much draft capital at the moment either. That could change if they trade Kreider and others.

Drury is even dumber than I thought if he's gonna get rid of Trouba just to give up a bunch of stuff for Brady Tkachuk
Brady has torts DNA built into a player.

Also teams see what the other tkachuk helped do in Florida when he got there and noticed what happened to the flames when he left. Some teams very much id those guys are tone setters for organizations. This organization could use that obviously so how much will you pay for it. This team is not going to benefit from a Mike Keane Brian skrudland leadership injection attempt. They need a core leadership item inserted into it bc it does not have it now.

Zero. Laviolette essentially just came out and said that he's gone.

When the Rangers traded for and then signed Trouba the team was desperate for a legit #1 dman who could lead the way. Trouba early in his rangers tenure fit that role(to an extent) but clearly does not come close to that anymore. It makes all the sense in the world to move on now, especially considering and goodwill bestowed upon him for his leadership can decisively be retracted after the start of this season.

Messy Jacob Trouba breakup is just the start of Rangers overhaul

There was the eight-day week stretching from the last day of October to the seventh of November of 1975 in which Ed Giacomin was placed on waivers before Jean Ratelle and Brad Park were traded to the Bruins for Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais (and Joe Zanussi).

There was the three-day stretch the first week of May of 2021 in which Artemi Panarin was thrown around like a rag doll by Tom Wilson, the Rangers issued a statement condemning the NHL’s failure to suspend the Washington winger, and within short order both team president John Davidson and general manager Jeff Gorton were fired and replaced by Chris Drury.

And now there is this.

And there will be more.

The fortnight of tumult triggered by a pair of no-show first-periods in Calgary and Edmonton that motivated Drury to send a Substack message across the league advertising that the club was open for business while specifically citing Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider reached another level on Friday.

That is when the Rangers all but fired their captain following a one-on-one conversation with Drury in which it is believed that the defenseman was told that if he did not accept a trade he would be placed on waivers.

We are told that Trouba, who was able to use his influence to block a summer trade in order to remain in New York while his wife completed the final year of her medical residency, was given at least a pair of trade options to accept.

He did not participate in the morning skate with Victor Mancini, recalled on Friday, set to take his spot in the lineup for the upcoming match at the Garden against Pittsburgh.

If it does get to the point where Trouba is placed on waivers, it is unknown whether any team would claim the 30-year-old defenseman, who has one more year to go on his contract that carries an $8 million cap hit per.

And it is unknown what Drury and the Rangers hierarchy would do in that case. Would the club assign him to the AHL Wolf Pack (for which the team would get cap relief of $1.15M)? Would they send him home, an act the NHLPA might likely grieve?

This has been two weeks in the making, this has been nearly three months in the making since Trouba reported to camp and this has been five months in the making. This has been five months in the making since July 1.

Trouba, an inspirational leader after ascending to the captaincy at the start of the 2022-23 season, appeared detached and aggrieved from the start of camp. He disappeared as a physical force on the ice.

The Rangers, who have been off-kilter since the start of the season, had a lame duck captain who was acting that way.

It became untenable and unhealthy during this stretch in which the Blueshirts have dropped six of their last seven games in regulation after being able to camouflage their flaws for the first three weeks of the season because of superior goaltending from both Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick.

So Drury took action after Monday’s lifeless exhibition against the Devils. There were multiple meetings, more than one with Trouba. There are Rangers who are apparently bitter about the way that Drury put the popular Barclay Goodrow on waivers in mind-June so the reaction in the room to this will have to be monitored.

This is pro sports, this is big business, but when business affects you, it becomes personal. It is on the Rangers not to take this personally.

This will not be a one-off. Excising Trouba takes care of one issue but Drury has spent the week in trade talks with multiple clubs with The Post learning that Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk has become the Rangers’ primary target.

A trade for the Senators’ 25-year-old hardscrabble captain would immediately change the Blueshirts’ identity. The package going the other way would obviously have to be significant and could very well include Alexis Lafreniere.

The ground is shaking under the Rangers.

Get ready for the aftershocks.

I hear you, we saw Kaapo and Laf and still see some consequences of bad development.

But I saw Manc straight up dominate, right here, right now.

That is to say, he's NHL ready. More than Kak and Laf ever were their rookie years.

No they haven’t. If they played better none of this would be happening, but these players want their cake and to eat it too. Their performance on the ice seems to be of no concern.
Even if they thought that last year’s play got them some leeway to figure it out this year, they have since burned through all of that leeway in the past month.

They all knew this was the final run for this core with nearly all of the veteran contracts opening up within the next year or so (other than zib).

The players would not be justified in resenting the decision to move Trouba based on what's happening on the ice right now.

The only way to have job security at this level is with a full NMC and by winning games. That's it.

This is the price of being an NHL player. You get traded or waived at some point barring the rarest exceptions like Crosby.

I'm just glad something is happening now rather than waiting until the TDL. This still may be a salvageable season.

The funny thing is, the best this roster has looked this year was when it was this.

Miller Fox
Schneider Tuba
Jones Mancini

When Lindgren came back things went down hill. Him and Tuba were the main 2 players that needed to be replaced

If a deal happens it will look something like this.

I'm dating myself but look back on what Dany Heatley got Ottawa from San Jose. Milan Michalek who was an aging middle six winger and a bunch of trash. Cheechoo was a flash in the pan. I look back and laugh at what HF thought he would get.

Fair enough, honest I’m more inclined to give up Lafreniere in a Tkachuk deal if I’m being honest. I think Perreault’s upside at this point is similar or better to Laf, the fact he’s going to be on an Elic can’t be overlooked.
