Totally agree. Play well enough to justify your cap hit and you never have to worry about this. Teams are supposed to carry on in a fashion that hurts the team just to appease a vet? I actually think they should be held to an even higher standard, not given favors.

Sure, I like that aspect. The cap space is nice... but at this point is this the group that's going to get us over the hump? It seems like they're going to start transitioning toward other players. So what's the point in sending a message to players that you're ultimately going to trade away anyway. I'd rather use him as a trade asset than send some sort of a message.

I would too. A trade would see the Rangers having to retain at least 25% of his contract this year and next to bring in any kind of value. Seeing him waived and getting claimed or terminating his contract due to not reporting to Hartford and losing all of his $8 million is also super appealing.

Columbus makes a ton of sense if they're in on him. Young assets up the wazoo and they're trying to build a team to make the playoffs.

I'm doing backflips if Drury can pull a rabbit and get Mayechuk out of this.

sure but you can fix more than one problem

my only issue would be if Drury truly sees no issue with Lindgren. that would be inexcusable. He's probably a guy that has a lot of value at the TDL though so I could even see the logic in them holding him.

This season is lost IMO. No sense in trying to salvage it. The core is declining and checking out rapidly.

I would argue the rangers biggest need is a bump in compete. BT brings that in spades.

yeah ideally. i do like Tkachuk, I was a big fan of Keith as well. but I dont think Just Brady Tkachuk does anything for this team right now. and imagine what the cost is going to be? i dont like it.

We have to strongly consider that given the state of the team and locker room culture. Rangers need guys who will rip someone's heart out of their chest to win. Probably multiple guys like that. Brady and Sam Bennett?

Good, this whole stretch is finally forcing Drury's hand. The next captain shouldn't be any of this veteran core; they ain't it. Every coach we've had since we traded McDonagh has known full well that there isn't a leader among them.

For Tkachuk? Nah. The Rangers just signed Lafreniere to a multi year extension. Perreault should be off limits for anyone not named Bedard, McDavid, or Mackinnon.

Miller, Othmann, and picks and prospects is the skeleton of the deal.

This part IS speculation, but I wonder if something is happening w the preds of it could be chytil and trouba /stammer. If kakko stays can he be the 3c with no chytil?

If stammer comes here he remove Mika from his pp spot and that's another dart at Mika to get him to consider a deal.

Bottom line is this season is officially one that will have books written about it.

Im speculating but Ottawa is in a tough spot. brady can pick his spot on July 1 and take away all their leverage. They dont look any different than they have in years past. Any deal we make would probably be considered an overpay, but I think its a possibility.
