I mean, at least parts of what she said is true. It probably won't play well in the room, and may lead to players wanting out. That being said, if a consequence is more of the so called "leadership group" looking to leave, it's a double win.

The suggestion that waiving your captain when he's playing like ass is somehow immoral, is poppycock.
Yep. CEOs, captains of industry take hearty packages to quit, get fired, leave all the time.

Fox has been on a decline since his Norris. Doesn't consistently play at a high level like he used to.
he still was a ppg last season and scored 17 goals in 71 games or whatever. Should have been a Norris finalist again if he didnt miss time.

This season is a different story, but name one player on the team who hasn't declined besieds Cuylle

This is a very bad meme. Drury ain't dodging shit.

Trouba had a NMC up until last season and Drury couldn't do jack about anything.

The NTC now has a 15-team no trade list ... so 17 teams the player can get dealt to.

Furthermore Drury signed Mika to his ... *checks notes* ... FULL* NMC contract.

Don't share false propaganda, proclaiming that the GM that's going to waive bad contracts away, is anything but a dope, specialized in horrendous asset management.

*puckpedia has the last year of the Zib contract on NMC and NTC ... :dunno:

Not for nothing, but I hope Tuba isn't being waived. This team is a train wreck right now. At this point does removing Tuba suddenly fix all their problems? I don't want to see any rash knee jerk responses to salvage this roster right now. It seems like a major waste of a possible asset just to try to save the season if that's the case. If the reports coming in from early in the season that over half the teams in the league had interest in Tuba then why waste this opportunity. Wait till the deadline so more teams will have cap space or the summer where it really opens up. Let them sink or swim the rest of the season, don't waste an asset

Do you guys think Drury brought Rempe into the room for protection when he had his one on one with Trouba telling him to pack his bags?

As Drury was getting elbowed into oblivion by Trouba he looked back towards his bodyguard Matt Rempe whose wobbly giraffe legs tripped over a ladybug and was on minute 2 of the 45 minutes it takes for him to get back up.

I will say this - as someone very much on the "get rid of Trouba" train, I don't think replacing him with Mancini is good. Mancini needs a year in the AHL. Playing him at the NHL level right now is not ideal and would actually be worse than Trouba, IMO.

Zibanejad still puts up 70-80 points per year, is he worth his contract?
Zibanejad is a forward, not a defenceman. And his underlying play has been pedestrian for a good couple of years now.

I get it, the team hasn't been playing well recently, and Fox has been guilty too. But he still ranks among the league's absolute best.

Among Ds with 400+ 5v5 minutes, Fox this season is:
  • 2nd in relative expected goals %
  • 8th in Corsi
  • 9th in Fenwick
  • 9th in on-ice high danger shot attempts for per 60 mins
  • 10th in on-ice expected goal differential
If Fox is no longer elite, the word "elite" has no meaning.

It sends a message that poor play isn't going to be tolerated and that unless you have an iron clad blood oath contract like Zibanejad, no one's job is safe.

Pandering is only going to breed complacency.

So can we waive Mika and see if someone picks him up? If he passes through just have him come back to MSG? That should help with his mental state;):naughty:

Kreider is the only one of the older guys I'd look to hold on to, but if he's going to throw a temper tantrum over Trouba being put out to pasture, he can get lost too.

I'll take what he said at face value. There is a time and a place. He isn't even talking about being selected for the Four Nations. Maybe the guy, who I've never known to not have his head on straight, wants to be focused on tonight.

Or maybe it speeds up his development. Give the children a chance and change the risk-averse culture.

You don't ask them to waive unless there is a deal on paper and done. Look at markstrom last season in Calgary.

I told you all this was coming last weekend...
This isn't true. You don't have a wait for the deal to be done before asking a player to waive.

I feel the same way, should just let Ruhwedel eat the minutes. But maybe Drury is willing to take a bath on this season and sees it as a transition season at this point. I doubt it but I agree, wouldn’t have called up Mancini.
