Dach had wrist issues that Chicago badly mismanaged. There was bad blood on both sides and it was a mutual parting of the ways. It also helped that Chicago wanted to tank for Bedard.Dach has many other problems. But the narrative that Chicago knew for a fact 120% he would never pan out is absolutely ridiculous as he was just 21. The main reason he was traded is the same as DeBrincat, Hagel and the same reason the Hakws did not qualify Dylan Strome. That reason is curently the Hawks first line center.
It's kind of funy that the same management who knew for a fact Dach would not pan out actually misread Dylan Strome to a point they actually let him go for absolutely nothing. Nah the Hawks knew what they were doing when they traded all their young players like Hagel, Dach and DeBrincat and that plan was called Connor Bedard.
He’ll probably miss the start of next season at this ratecant be good news on Dach... no word
shut him down till fall
if that was the case, they would keep him away from the team completely but he's at practices in gym gearCould the injury be a smokescreen?? Deal pending??
“He isn’t hungry enough. Doesn’t work hard enough…”If Dach worked as hard as his defenders here claiming that he's guaranteed to be more than fine as a 2C, he would be a great 2C. Injuries aside, he's not hungry and doesn't have the elite hockey skills or defensive awareness to get away with that. That stretch where he carried the corpses of Hoffman and Dadonov while being a center was super intriguing, but you have to remember that it wasn't a substantial sample size at all.
Of course there's no real reason to trade him while his value is in the toilet, but he should be a bottom 6 winger starting next year and you hope that he has that hunger and drive to attack the net like how he did during that sample size. And of course staying healthier.
His injuries derailed him before he got to the Habs though, he was already damaged goods with his wrist.I remember the same thing with Price. An avalanche of bullshit. And that guy went on to a HOF career.
Dach is a really good player who could’ve been a borderline first liner. But his injuries have derailed him.
We have to look for alternatives now and we can’t depend on him. But the whole ‘he suck’s’ stuff is total BS.

The Canadiens did their diligence on the wrist - and turned out to be right. It hasn’t been a problem. But you can’t predict other injuries and the one to his knee was devastating.
He was. And when we traded for him I was really nervous about it. But that didn’t turn out to be an issue. His injuries derailed him before he got to the Habs though, he was already damaged goods with his wrist.
No. He’s not a Price calibre player and I’d never suggest as much. Like I said, he has enough talent to be a really good second / borderline first liner player. Not a superstar but really solid.Have you seen anything about his game to suggest a Price like career? Or is it just blind support of any underperforming young-ish player?
I think it was more of it being a strained situation that everyone wanted to move on from. They played him well before his wrist was ready and exacerbated the problem. That never should’ve happened and I’m sure Dach was pissed about it.I mostly agree with this, bad blood and general incompetence has been a thorough issue with the Hawks at this point in time.
If the Blackhawks traded Dach for the tank though, then they are even dumber than I thought.
He can be a good player for this team just not at center ice.I remember the same thing with Price. An avalanche of bullshit. And that guy went on to a HOF career.

I disagree on that but that’s okay. Difference of opinion. And he’s never been good on faceoffs so that would bolster your argument. He can be a good player for this team just not at center ice.
Yeah because Dach is at that level of player. He deserves the same leniency because he was also once a 100 point player. Pointless argument.Ok the # argument but you clearly miss the whole context since his arrival, and you are holding against him because he get injured
And Dach is not good cause he don't bound well with Laine, wow I guess Kariya and Selanne suck since they didn't do shit with Sakic in Colorado or perhaps Mogilny suck too cause he didn't deliver with Bure in Vancouver ?
There is too much reliance on Suzuki/Caufield and next year the anointed one will be here and we do not need another experiment/reclamation project but rather a proven veteran on a short term deal. We need someone who plays good defense with the ability to chip in 50 points and the team will have more balance.I disagree on that but that’s okay. Difference of opinion. And he’s never been good on faceoffs so that would bolster your argument.
If he is out for the year again - I haven’t heard anything yet - then his career is in jeopardy. Fair or not he’s 24 years old and has missed so much hockey. Another injury would really set him back.
So I will agree with you that it’s mandatory to find a second line center. He cannot be depended on to hold that role for us. I was hopeful that he could come back and he was playing pretty well for a while but another setback is just too much.
So yeah, keep him. Get a second line center. Hopefully Dach can find his game but we can’t hold the spot. He can play in the bottom six for a while. If he is ever able to play and establish himself we can move him back up but the deck would be stacked against him now.
We have Hage coming so I don’t see what the point would be in getting a young guy there. There is too much reliance on Suzuki/Caufield and next year the anointed one will be here and we do not need another experiment/reclamation project but rather a proven veteran on a short term deal. I would like to see them use some draft currency instead of just stockpiling more prospects. I feel we need to take the next step to serious playoff contention.
The more injuries you have the bigger the risk. They start to compound on one another. There wasn't a particular play with this injury which makes it even more upsetting that he's missing games. He just can't stay healthy. I like the player, but this was the year he had to show he could at least stay healthy.
I get the feeling he just can't take the physical play of the NHL.
Your post is just complete bullshit. Carey Price had an elite season in the NHL in his D+3 season. Kirby Dach in his D+3 season couldn't even get 0.5 PPG when mostly playing next to Patrick Kane and Alex Debrincat. Even if you want to die on the hill that people said, "Carey Price doesn't work hard enough", that season showed how he did have world-class skills to be that good early on which is why I said "Dach doesn't have the elite hockey skills or defensive awareness to get away with that". So yes, if Dach had a 70 point season you can attack my post, but he hasn't even come close to that.“He isn’t hungry enough. Doesn’t work hard enough…”
This is exactly the kind of bullshit I’m talking about. Same thing was said about Carey Price. By a lot of the same people.
Done for the season. Now what?cant be good news on Dach... no word
shut him down till fall
I don’t even think Bergevin would be that naiveAnother surgery and done for the year lol
If Hughes sits on his ass and thinks Dach can easily be the 2C again, he's more stubborn than MB.
