Got to give AV and Gorton credit for the Smith waiving.

I can't stand contract year players. Which normal person could ever just show up the month before salary negotiations at their work? These guys are paid millions. Smith showed up out of shape, unacceptable but you got to move forward. We are off between 8th and 13th. Smith didn't play on the 8th, it was the second night of a back to back. That is 6 days to really work hard and gear up for the last half of the season. Smith being scratched on the 13th says everything. He went to some beach instead. Don't think you want someone like that around kids. A message must be sent, can't take that and ever expect to win anything.

I hope that him and his wife will enjoy life in Hartford! What a couple of clowns.

Smith being waived could very well be CF worthy in itself. We out bid the entire NHL to get a top 3 UFA vet D less than a year ago and now we are sending him to the AHL...

Over payment at UFA.

Not entirely difficult to outbid everyone when we're over paying.

I don't see why we would need to waive Smith if Staal is going on LTIR though Staal was under the "we should know more in 48 hours" situation about 48 hours ago.

How is it so quiet in that room that the only way I can tell my computer hasn't frozen is that occasionally that blonde in the front moves a bit?

AV talking to the press and saying things like "Smith being waived is the best thing for our team going forward" tells me he isn't getting fired today
 
NYR official Twitter is still saying "AV says Vesey is....." so zero chance AV is getting canned.
