It's a demented seller's market. It makes more sense the Canucks are looking at moving Soucy and Forbort, given the prices for these defensemen.
Could amass quite a war chest of assets at this deadline...if they wanted to.

f*** the Oilers.Holy hell - the overreaction of acquiring 1 year of Kane is crazy.
Many of the same things were said about Dubois... lazy, toxic, selfish, etc.
Look how he's performed.
It's ok to take risks sometimes... that's exactly what this team needs. Taking risks on high-ceiling guys. You know who else was an asshole toxic locker room cancer? JT Miller in 2019. Just saying.
If you guys are that scared of acquiring someone who's been great in Edmonton, might as well just pack it in and start the rebuild. Zero risk appetite is such a narrow minded way of thinking.
Edmonton took a risk on Kane and he's been great for them and came a couple goals away from winning the cup. Imagine if their management team had the same thoughts and feelings as you guys. Not going to be a popular comment saying you guys are all wrong but he's been great in Edmonton and they were rewarded for taking on this risk.
This is basically saying like, avoid investing in Tesla because Elon Musk is too erratic and he's an asshole! Meanwhile the stock 3xs over a period of couple years.
Gotta take risks in sports. I understand it's not going to be a popular suggestion but I personally would be open to a Kane/Soucy swap. Would help out our team immensely on paper.
Herman Traff is a hella jobber name
We have the potential to get a haul for these 4 players which can be used to upgrade the roster. If we don’t capitalize on this I swear I’m probably done watching for the rest of the year. This is a massive seller’s market, wow.
Suter, Soucy, Forbort, Boeser. At least two of these should go at these prices
Prices are insane right now especially with the lack of sellers, he returns at least a 2nd. However, unless they find a long term center solution you probably have to keep him.I doubt we trade Suter, even if we don't end up re-signing him. I'm good with that, given that he'd probably return at best a 4th (probably lower).
Nhl GM's are still the old boy club, Suter is a 5'11" Euro- who's only playoff experience was the 13 gms he played last year. I'd rather keep him vs having a 6th round pick we'd likely get for him.
we just got rid of a locker room cancer and you want to add another? Also why would we help a divisional rival?
Would like to keep Forbort I think. Otherwise sure. Would really miss Boeser and would still cheer for him to succeed anywhere he went (almost anywhere)Out

Well, yeah. They should. But who knows. They won yesterday, so need our "own rentals" for a playoff run or whatever.Yes, I would assume that's the plan. Flip Suter, Forbort and Soucy, and use the proceeds and cap space to address other areas of need (specifically in the top six)> I for one will be quite disappointed if they largely stand pat.
disagreeBecause it would help us? Isn't that why we make trades?
Make a trade cowards
Disagree. Assets are assets. Make a trade if it improves the team. Make a trade if the assets that we get are worth it if boeser goes, we will need something to replace him.Lunatic market right now, esp for defense. Maneuvering to get MPetey looks really smart rn.
Don't give a shit about getting picks unless this is leveraged to get assets that can bolster the line up in the short-mid term.
More trades - inject the rumour mill into my veins
Oh. And acquiring Kane is a disaster idea holy smokes. Head case, inconsistent, head case, injury risk, and oh, he's a piece of shit player and person.
