This whole gag order by the NHL is an attempt to make the draft more interesting.. I think everyone realizes last years draft didnt live up to the hype as far as trades and craziness goes

I rather have a GM who is unreasonable than have one who gives assets away like candy

I suppose the fear that bob is talking about is when other GMs stop dealing with Chayka because they think he's unreasonable, not tough.

I'd imagine he's taking enough flak as it is as a 28 year old GM in a league where the only reasonable way to be promoted to GM is to have played in the NHL, or to be someone's kid.

I don't hate at all that he entered the league with a "you're not gonna **** me over attitude". It's exactly what he needed to do.

Yes. Because of his background he needs to establish himself. He needs to fight to get the respect around the league. That's not done by giving in when you are negotiating.

Chevy from Winnipeg is considered to be unreasonable...thats why that team seemingly never does anything.

Yeah, and in my view, Chayka is already getting things done. He traded Hanzal and Whyte as a rental for a 1st, a 2nd and a prospect. Not a bad haul.

Same with the Michael Stone trade. He is building the team up from the ground. I admire that

Datsyuk trade last year was excellent, too. Trade up to grab Chychrun. Fake money on the cap, add a second rounder.

computerboyes singing the praise of computerGMboye. No wonder why Silverfish got yelled at earlier

Oh look, Scott Arniel didn't get hired and we still have him.

i would want more than Alex Galchenyuk...id need a first...and probably more, if im trading Stepan within the conference...

but Galchenyuk and a first for stepan would be a good starting point.

the issue i have though is you may be making Montreal WAY harder to play against...Stepans defense + Price = yikes.

with that said, im ready to move on from Stepan..as long as its the right deal.

Mackinnon makes a lot of sense for us...Stepan + our first + Graves for Mackinnon?

This is a bit hyperbolic. Let's not make Stepan out to be Patrice Bergeron...

That being said, getting MacKinnon would be costly, but well worth it. He's unbelievable and only 21...its a dream of mine to have him on this team. **** it would be so awesome....

Not nearly enough. To get Mackinnon, we would have to give up multiple pieces that we wouldn't want to. Think Buch and Skjei.

That's not gonna be enough for MacKinnon. They would want a guy like Skjei not a prospect who's never played an NHL game.

Fire him anyways.

Stepan has some of the best goal driving and suppression stats of this past entire decade.

I would do inhumane things if it meant Nathan MacKinnon would be a Ranger. It's highly unlikely the Avs move him at all, let alone for an older center in Stepan. A Stepan-Duchene swap makes a bit more sense if they want that kind of center behind MacK but its kind of a lateral move on their part.

top line center + first + prospect..if thats not enough...

Seth Jones with straight up for RyJo.

Top line center for top line center + first + prospect seems like a fair deal.

heck, does Colorado have any crap contracts they wanna get rid of...lets take one of those as well...

Have any trades been made exclusive of Vegas?

Vegas might condition any move on them not being made public until the protected lists are in. Might affect people's position on who to protect. I know I've seen reports that the NHL previous years have had a 48 hour embargo on announcing trades after the finals. I don't think its reasonable to have something like that on all teams up until the draft. Heck, families have to start moving ASAP etc, its way to long time.

Lol....you and I both.
