The question for me is not the Stepan of 2012-2016. The question for me is will the Stepan of the future be the 2016-17 version or the previous version.

He's getting older, and has always been a horrendous skater, and has terrible hands. I want guys who are SKILLED & smart. Not just smart.

Why's that? If it's a fair value deal, he would be a major addition to this team.

Already having issues with him in Winnipeg, where he's considered less of an asset in their somewhat decent D core. + he will want a major pay day at the end of that bridge deal.

It's not that I don't like him as a player, I just think it'll cause future complications.

This whole gag order by the NHL is an attempt to make the draft more interesting.. I think everyone realizes last years draft didnt live up to the hype as far as trades and craziness goes

I would make it a real draft, just announcing the names one by one. Invite the exposed players (all, not just ones taken), and their wives.

Stack the tables with booze. Watch players and their wives sweat it out.

Probably get higher ratings than the Cup finals.

Would dropping 15 pounds help? My problem with Step was he let his goal slump change his game. He started shooting everything instead of just playing his game.

dangles/60

so...he still finds a way to be a 55-60 point scorer in the NHL every year.

he's about to be 27 which is right in his prime, lots of players have their best years later on as well.

lol. i can imagine guys getting taken off contenders being pissed and their wives crying because they have to move to las vegas

I suppose the fear that bob is talking about is when other GMs stop dealing with Chayka because they think he's unreasonable, not tough.
I think that there is no such thing as "stop dealing". The reality is that if there are assets that someone wants and a price that someone has set, eventually there can be a deal if the two sides want it badly enough.

There is nothing wrong with not allowing your assets to be plundered.

Anyone who understands the entirety of Winnipeg's organization depth would see Stepan is not going there.

I don't think trouba is really available except for a huge return for the Jets, yet people keep wishing

What is problem with Dumba? Last June, most hated Brodin being mentioned as part of a return for Step, now negativity on Dumba? Minnesota matches up better than most, Carolina too.
