This game strengthened the powerful hatred I already had for Jeff Skinner.

I'd like to turn his teeth to powder.

Yeah honestly, all 3 of McDonagh's shorthanded goals are kind of flukey / terrible goals to give up.

And I don't know why to praise MSL people have to crap all over Callahan.

Well, while the goal today wasn't the best example of goaltending, I think it was legit. Not exactly the goal against Quick goal or even the goal against the Leafs.

What do you guys think is going on with Kreider? Burnout? Is he the type of guy that just needs to be motivated? I'm worrying about the guy. He was a flat out beast for a while. I really thought he had a unique 1st liner on this team for the future. He's still really young and I just think he hit a wall.

Kreider only played 9mins

Good, he sucked tonight and has been for the last 20 games. He shouldn't be playing at all, let alone high end minutes. Miller should be in over him at this point. I know LW/RW, etc. Kreider has been a detriment and was largely responsible for that first goal tonight.

Once more can't hurt :)

Jeff Skinner ladies and gentlemen

Frustrating first two periods. I thought the Rangers had good chances. That last goal was just an incredible pass from St Louis. You could almost see the exact moment Stepan realize how good his new teammate is.

Missed the game due to work, but the Rangers seem like they were buzzing tonight. Deserved the win.

Kreider needs to get going again. Hasn't been himself since before the Olympic break. Other teams have the book on him. Take away the outside on the rush and he doesn't know what to do. I'd move MSL to the top line and promote Fast to be on Richards' and Hagelin's wing. Kreider should sit a couple of games.

Also, can we keep the OT thread stuff to the OT thread? It's starting to bug me seeing it spill over into other threads.

Agreed. nothing more problematic than that, and Im confident AV recognizes it for what it is, and wont do anything drastic or counterproductive.

Kreider's just never played this much hockey at this level before.
I think I can pinpoint almost exactly where his game flattened out, which was the hit he threw against Columbus and was tossed for.
He even said afterward he didnt know what was going on, next thing he knew the guy was hurt and Dubinsky was yapping at him and he was out of the game. Prior to that he tooka shot frmo the Cap's Wilson that slowed him down a bit, think it mightve been his shoulder. He hasnt played physically like that since (though I saw him trying to line people up last night; then he took on 3 Hurricanes LOL), but my goodness I must add, before that game, this kid was throwing some of the biggest and easily the most hysterical hits Ive ever seen.
He was routinely sending people - BIG people - flying all over with huge, clean hits. A beautiful sight to see.

His offense was clicking too, he was very much an impact player. Emphasis on impact. Stepan & Nash went through their phases too; I think Kreider just got knocked out of sync and will be fine;
As I said yesterday, I like the idea of Kreider with St Louis (though I detest Richards getting anything more than he was before MSL), put Hagelin back with Step & Nash.

The Rangers cannot waste St Louis' playing making abilities.
And Im pretty sure I saw AV try that with Kreider a few times against Carolina, though 9 minutes is a lot less than Id like to see Kreider getting. Anyway, long way of saying I agree LOL>.

Is he really that mentally fragile that one game misconduct would throw him off for months? Also, he did get a 3 week break. I don't know what gives. I'm terrified that this is his personality. Just a guy that needs to be motivated.

surprised at all the Kreider hate.

Honestly, I feel like he plays a lot like cally, except its his rookie year, and hes been playing with the top line, and cally was in his 10th year and was playing like a 2/3 winger.

I hate the mandatory "stupid kreider penalty" as much as the next ranger fan, but he creates chances with his speed and physicality just as much as Hagelin, and we dont call for Hags head on a pike at the end of the game because he cant put one in the net.

He's a big reason we were able to make this trade for MSL. How many other of our forward prospects have been able to cut it in the NHL? 2nd line is fine- Hags, Richie and MSL are doing great. 3rd Line has been great since december. we're not putting kreider with boyle and "cancillo". so on the first line he stays.

If it was your family and your career you might feel a tad different about the money I suspect.

Dude, Sather offered him close to 6 million a year. How is that not enough? It's not like he's negotiating to get a salary to cover his expenses and get his kid a toy now and then. This is about getting rich or even richer. And don't come with that BS argument that their expenses are so much higher than others and he has to earn money to last the rest of his life.

He was earning millions and was offered more millions but still it wasn't enough. He wanted Patrick Kane-money.

Callahan was a great captain but simply asking too much money.

I really do get excited when Kreider is making a rush through the neutral zone. I, for one, have not given up hope yet. We've seen him make an impact through the last 3 years. He will continue to do the same.

I certainly wouldnt use that phrase to describe a kid who had his chain jerked by Tortorella every which way and still came back like a house on fire, even pounded it up Torts' butt with a hat trick right in his face.
He is a highly intelligent kid, speaks something like 5 languages (taunts opposing goalies in russian LOL), he'll be fine.
Young guys go through their ups & downs, doesnt matter who you are. I can remember McDonagh looking none to impressive his first prolonged stint; sheesh, Im old enough to remember Messier getting shipped back to the minors. And as I alluded to, Im not so sure he wasnt banged up.

To me the main thing is, this kid's game works. He's proven that much already. I think he's naturally streaky as well. He's due for an outburst. As long as the coach calls his number, Im sure he'll generate chances.
But the biggest part of the game is confidence.
Makes great players look ordinary, ordinary players look great.
So he's fighting it a bit right now but he'll get straightened out.

Is this the first time he got benched? I mean, hopefully that wakes him up.
