Is he really that mentally fragile that one game misconduct would throw him off for months? Also, he did get a 3 week break. I don't know what gives. I'm terrified that this is his personality. Just a guy that needs to be motivated.

Let's hope the supposed 'lack' of mental fortitude is a mental thing and something that he'll get better with as he gets more experience. It's really hard to say right now if it's his personality or his inexperience. The concern is valid though.

Klein played a great game tonight. Stepped up big when Stralman went down for the period then kept it up when he came back

The concern is valid though.

Depends what that concern is. The poster took it upon himself to characterize the Columbus game as , "one game...is he that fragile?", which is not what I said. I said that seemed to be the game that knocked him out of sync.
I happen to think its a combination of things for Kreider right now, and he'll figure it out.

I just have a problem characterizing players, young or old, based on assumptions about their 'motivation'.
That reeks of unsubstantiated, message board hysteria to me, and Ive had many a flame war in the past with people who routinely go on & on about how players are faking injury, or questioning their heart, or any other such baseless garbage like that.

And thats not a slam on the poster we're both referencing (sry, cant see the name as I type; SnowBlind? maybe), who Im sure was just posing the question.

But Ive got a lot of worries with this team; Kreider's 'motivation' isnt one of them.

Good, he sucked tonight and has been for the last 20 games. He shouldn't be playing at all, let alone high end minutes. Miller should be in over him at this point. I know LW/RW, etc. Kreider has been a detriment and was largely responsible for that first goal tonight.

Once more can't hurt :)

Jeff Skinner ladies and gentlemen

And?

He's a 30 goal scoring NHL player who can also figure skate. More talented than you or anybody else on this board.

Are you making fun of him because figure skating is considered a "girly" sport? That's awfully misogynistic of you.

Huge win to boost morale! Nice to have Zucc back, just waiting for Kreider line to find their A-game. Yeah I know we had goal from Nash and Stepan, but they need to step it up a notch if we are to get somewhere in the PO. Damn what a nice win!!!

First off, it's not misogynistic at all.

Second off, he's a diving sack of **** and a former figure skater should be much more balanced on his skates than this bum is.

Third off, I'm sure he got his ass kicked in school a lot.

Fourth off, **** Skinner.

I can't blame you for the facepalm, that's waaaay to much ice time.
LMAO
surprised at all the Kreider hate.

Honestly, I feel like he plays a lot like cally, except its his rookie year, and hes been playing with the top line, and cally was in his 10th year and was playing like a 2/3 winger.

I hate the mandatory "stupid kreider penalty" as much as the next ranger fan, but he creates chances with his speed and physicality just as much as Hagelin, and we dont call for Hags head on a pike at the end of the game because he cant put one in the net.

He's a big reason we were able to make this trade for MSL. How many other of our forward prospects have been able to cut it in the NHL? 2nd line is fine- Hags, Richie and MSL are doing great. 3rd Line has been great since december. we're not putting kreider with boyle and "cancillo". so on the first line he stays.

It's not hate imo, and it's not like he sucks, but since expectation are high on him, having 5 points in his last 17 games just isn't good enough if you play with Nash and Stepan (who isn't tearing it up neither).

And I wouldn't say that he creates close to as much as Hagelin at the moment. When at the top of his game, he is huge for the Rangers, he isn't there at the moment though.

I think Kreider will become a great player, but it will take time for him to adjust to the NHL, where his physical attributes isn't enough for him to succeed, he need to improve his off the puck game. He is a rookie, he will have up and downs, and he will get "hate" during his adjustment period, just as every other Ranger with big potential.

Dude, Sather offered him close to 6 million a year. How is that not enough? It's not like he's negotiating to get a salary to cover his expenses and get his kid a toy now and then. This is about getting rich or even richer. And don't come with that BS argument that their expenses are so much higher than others and he has to earn money to last the rest of his life.

He was earning millions and was offered more millions but still it wasn't enough. He wanted Patrick Kane-money.

Callahan was a great captain but simply asking too much money.

FWIW I agree with you. He was asking for too much money to keep him in New York. That said, he has every right to ask what he thinks he is worth. Anyone saying he does not have that right is just not being real.

Callahan is supposed to be able to secure north of $6.5M on the open market. We'll see about that. But if he does sign for that money than from what I understand he was prepared to give the Rangers a discount under the market price. According to Sather it was Cally standing firm on the NTC that really ended the negotiations.

As some of the details emerge on this it strikes me that the two sides were not all that motivated to stay together. The Rangers have a lot of depth on the wing. Young players on the rise. Players like Zucc they need to lock up longer term. Callahan could see this too. So perhaps this winds up being best for all sides.

If Marty can help get these young players to the next level and this team makes some serious runs than this will be worth it. If not.....

In any case, welcome MSL and best of luck to Cally.

I watched the Carolina broadcast on center ice, and the commentators obviously didn't make a mention of it...but was Girardi out for a period of time in the 2nd? Maybe because of that hit he took early on in the first period? I only noticed him again in the 3rd.

That was not a good game by the Rangers. For the VAST majority of the game the Rangers were sleeping. Some decent individual effort/luck at the end. But, it was a game where the Hurricane's beat themselves than the Rangers asserting a victory.

Rangers need to be WAY WAY better down the stretch.

Yeah, we are still transitioning a bit and finding new ways on the lines and on the PP, nothing major but THIS TIME OF THE YEAR there are no marginals. That could hurt us, and with some bad luck etc you never know were it goes.

Nash took things in his own hands and won this for us, could have gone either way.

Zucc was great, awsome too see. Was a bit afraid that he would go into a post OG slump, but he looked better than ever.

Strålman is the player I think are struggling the most. Staal and Stralsy must be better as a pair.

I got a full blown man crush for Dom Moore. I think he is playing great on the 4th. Always. Nice to see Boyle show some emotions.

I think Brassard is playing really good hockey. You don't get points for style in the NHL, but Brass gives us another gear even if he don't show on the scoreboard every night. Having him so deep in the lineup just gives us something other teams don't have.

assuming stralman's a little banged-up, i'd love to see this diaz fellow. particularly on the power play. with diaz and dorsett on stand-by, that's solid depth. me likey.

He played 23 minutes so I think its safe to assume he was out there all game

Zuke continues to show me that he's just a pure stud player. He does everything so well. His play is sublime with his ability to make the right play at the right time.

He's also a guy who finishes every check and make sure he gives you a face wash if you get your stick up.

He's just a tough little ****er who's been our best player on more than a few nights.

i was so 'over' zucc a couple years back but i've really been proven wrong...happily.

I'm pretty sure making fun of him for figure-skating is kind of misogynistic, as he wasn't making fun of him for making a funny face or something. All it really is is picking on him for being a guy doing something society deems "girly" as if that's something to make fun of someone for. That's misogyny.

He is a diver, absolutely. I'm fine with saying that, because it's true. He also has never been as good as he was his rookie year and he's constantly on the ice, you're right. I'm uncomfortable with people denigrating him by implying he's not "manly" for doing figure-skating, though. That's unacceptable, like the guy who complained about rap at the stadium series and saying "this isn't the NBA" a couple of weeks ago.

Definitely not the place for this rant, just rubbed me the wrong way. ;)

I think someone on these boards was a figure skater... ;)

Last night really solidified Zucc as one of our most important players. His injury really hit us hard and when he returned, you noticed. I'm not surprised though, just thought it really showed now. Must re-sign. He's in our core group now (as far as I'm concerned).

McDonagh, what a stud. He'll inherit Hank's MVP-status and crown shortly. Love him to death!

You're completely missing the point and forcing your agenda here. He was saying that for someone who was a figure skater, you'd think he wouldn't fall down as much as he does. Because, ya know, a big requirement of figure skating is to not fall down. Misogny  give me a break.
