We're playing very strong hockey right now and we just need to get our D closer to where it was last season to take another serious shot at the championship.
We already have more great prospects than we know what to do with, it's worth giving up a couple maybe's to make a second cup run.
Think of it: Kings Dynasty!

One factor in that our goalkeeping is struggling this year is that we are last in the league with blocked shots.

Regehr lead CGY with blocked shots (50) and will be the leading man in kings also. So our defense will improve a lot with this trade imo.

As much as we need a physical guy, I'd rather have done the deal for Bouwmeester. At that price, we could have just treated him like a rental and waived him after the season if we HAD too. A conditional 1st and two crap prospects for a guy that can eat 24 minutes a game is insanely low. We paid more to rent Regehr arguably.

I like the amount of experience he brings, but let's face it Dean overpaid.

I'm also not so sure that Regehr today is better than what we already have on the blueline.

A nice, but expensive insurance policy I suppose.

I admit I have not seen much of this guy, but its only draft picks. It's not like the kings need picks that can play for the next few years. Besides when the time comes when the kings are not contenders they will be sellers and can restock the Picks when that time comes.

I'm OK with this trade since our window to win again is now. Who knows how long it will be until those 2nd round picks are ready to be full time NHL players.

The first isn't conditional, it's just lottery protected this year. They will be giving the first, either 16-30 this year, or anywhere next year.

I look at it differently. They didn't lose any roster players, they didn't lose any of their top prospects or any promising young players on the farm team. Those picks are unknown entities. Getting Regehr for picks still gives the Kings wiggle room to move other assets for a top six forward if they decide to go in that direction.

It's not a conditional 1st for Bow. It's a conditional first this year that can be moved to 2014 if the Blues miss playoffs. So either way, Calgary gets a 1st.

Why would we trade for Jay Bo? He is exactly the type of player the Kings have too many of....Martinez, Doughty, Voynov, Muzzin, are all similar. JayBo is very soft.

How long ago was that? :sarcasm:

First off we don't have a first. To make up for that they would have wanted Bernier and DL and do better with whatever return we get for Bernier then J"boy". Happy DL passed on J"boy" RR will play solidly for us.

I can't believe people are already willing to part ways with scuds. What the....

Yeah, I dunno. I think Scuds is still a great defensively sound stay-at-home guy, but I think it's obvious he is playing too many minutes. Regehr should help with that, and hopefully we begin seeing the Scuderi that we all know and love from last season.

Anyone else find it odd that it's not confirmed by the NHL yet? Think its going to be rejected or is what happened with Iginla going to happen with the Kings?

He did and he didn't.

2 Second rd picks for what Regehr brings to the table is slightly too much fo sure (a 2nd and a5th would have been bang on imo if we felt we had to have him) but in todays market we got a much better player than Murray who cost two seconds so we didn't overpay by market standards.

I agree with you though and personally wouldn't have added Regehr even though I like his game and sandpaper. I have to watch more Sabres games then I want to and have watched RR lose a ton this season.

Greene is a much better player then RR for those who wonder what RR is like think a lesser MG who is also a bit slower. Still a servicable Dman and a real competitor who never gives up on a play and will absolutely stand up for his team mates but not the player he was even as recently as last season.

Good pick up if we had to add him.

Surprisingly ... THIS SEASON :amazed: who knew ... that actually could help A LOT !

By comparison ... Scuderi only has 44 Blocked shots this Season, and Drew Doughty 37.

Sign of a organization who seriously wants to avoid what happened last season in the playoffs. Not sure J"boy" is answer to that riddle, that team needs a firely leader who won't crumble under pressure, Jbo while a decent player isn't that type of leader.

As a Kings fan, I love it! He isn't the answer.

If it's guys like Clifford or Simmonds, one season.

The first isn't conditional, it's just lottery protected this year. They will be giving the first, either 16-30 this year, or anywhere next year.

Oh I know that, but it still would mean they'd have to wait an additional year to get the pick. That's a long wait for a rebuilding team.

My point is, value wise, the Bouw deal is far superior to the Regehr deal.

They wouldn't have lost any roster players in the Bouw deal either, or top prospects.

While I agree that needs wise, Regehr fits more, Jay Bo isn't soft. He's not drive you through the wall tough, but he'll shut you down well. Think of him as more of a 'pin you/tie you up' type of defenseman, not a bruiser. I agree we needed a bruiser, but Jay Bouw would have been a good add at that price.

Seiously JU, if a guy doesn't plow the other player into row 7, it doesn't mean he's soft and useless.

We don't have a 1st, or the cap space.

Murray is barely good for 5 points a year. He can fight and his built like a tank but he is SLOW.

Regehr is good for 15-20 points, can skate, can hit, is decently mobile and can fight too.

I'd agree with all points except being 15-20 points. He is not that player anymore. He will help out Doughty, no doubt though.

You know what, I hated it at first, but it's alright. We're going for our second cup. Plus, you guys all know we're gonna get some draft picks for this upcoming draft when we trade Bernier + Martinez (hate to say it, but he's expendable now with Muzzin in the mix, even though I fell in love with him the last 2 years) or Ellerby.
