I really think playing in the slower western conference helps Regehr look better, the east is so fast this year, it makes me think once the stanley cup final comes if the west team isnt able to slow down the game than the east team will just skate circles around them, its just so unknown because no west vs east until the cup

Speedy teams that can't grind it out have no legs left by game three of a seven game series.

Aren't you the same guy who cried that we didn't draft Bobby Sanguinetti?

That was the now retired Squidward/Captain Ron

True....but so was Bernier.....so he got at least one right.

I still think the Kings should have selected Sanguinetti over Lewis. That would have made the Hickey selection in 2007 superfluous and might have caused Dean to go with Gagner or Voracek last year....but that is the past I guess.:(

I wanted Lombardi to select Bobby Sanguinetti with the 17th pick in the 2006 draft. It still remains to be seen if he will turn out to be a better player than Lewis. But he is looking really good so far. I think selecting Sanguinetti could have made the Hickey selection unnecessary in 2007. Dean could have then selected a more talented player instead of addressing what he considered to be a need.

Also in reference to Ryan.....he is no longer part of the Kings organization.....so he was a wasted pick.

Well....any Kings fan knows that I was full on the Sanguinetti band wagon 2 years ago. I could understand the Bernier pick. But I am still a bit miffed at passing on Bobby a second time to get Lewis.:shakehead

Another of Squidward's "Moments of Zen".......

The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Brampton Battalion defenceman Bobby Sanguinetti is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday November 11 after scoring six goals and four assists for 10 points in three games.

Sanguinetti started the week with a goal and an assist and was named the game’s third star in a 7-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack on Thursday. He scored a goal and added a pair of helpers and was named second star in a 4-3 loss to the Sudbury Wolves on Friday and on Sunday, he became the first defenceman in team history to score four times in one game when he did it against the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. He also added an assist for his second five-point game of the season and was named first star of the game
.

Right now he is ahead of Stamkos in scoring.:amazed: I am not saying that I would take Sanguinetti over Bernier now......Part of me was hoping that Lombardi would have chosen him with his second 1st rounder instead of Lewis. But I guess I will just have to hope that Lombardi can trade for him next season.;)

I think you owe Ziggy an apology and a $5 Subway footlong

I'll always say that we have now won that trade for him being a useful cog in bringing us a cup. 100% agree. I've said I'd trade Kopitar for peanuts if it guaranteed us another cup this year. There's no need to try and belittle me, we are on the same side.

But I can also look past that shiny cup gleam to at least acknowledge the fact that based on what Penner has done for us as a King is not what we expected from him, outside of one decent playoff run. On a purely hockey trade sense, Penner was a bust.

And of course there is more to a game than scoring goals. That said, when you trade for a guy who has scored 20+ goals a season repeatedly, and just had a 30+ goal year before that, then to expect more than 15 goals in 145 games isn't out of the ordinary, is it?

Not to mention for every Penner, we've had numerous Mark Parrish's and Anson Carter's. Penner's saving grace on this board is that he won a cup and played decently doing so. Not great, not stellar, decently.

Now if Regehr goes on to be a key cog in us winning the cup again this year, by all means I'll throw my support behind this trade. Winning the cup comes first, all other things are secondary. But at this point it has done nothing but amount to one good game.

Which all goes back to my initial point, which has been sidetracked by our discussion, and that is that it is rather silly to call out people for their opinion after one game.

If people are of the opinion that the Kings overpaid for Regehr, that's fine, but I'm more about picking apart those who said that Douglas Murray is a better hockey player. That to me shows that some people just haven't been paying much attention and really don't know how good Regehr is. It's an insult to suggest that Douglas Murray is better than him. That guy is a pylon who's only known for being big. Regehr is more than that, but I guess those who prefer Murray wouldn't know that.

I am even more pro-Robyn after last night's game. He looked like he's been on the team for 3 years. He was in the right place all the time and that poke check that led to the goal was pretty savvy.

In the 3 stars interview, he was even talking like he's been with the Kings for 3 years! It was great watching some of the Wild stop short on some zone entrances or battles for the puck along the boards because they didn't want to engage RR. Having that kind of reputation is a huge plus. Enter and you will be punished.

One game later.

GUIZE BEST TRADE EVER!!! Didn't Keaton Ellerby look pretty good after one game? Let's just relax a bit, let him learn our system and get used to the teammates, and re-evaluate then.

So you would not have said anything if Regehr had a brutal giveaway to Ryan Smyth, who subsequently does a spinorama pirouette around him, then backhands the puck off of Regehrs head and into the net? You would have said it was just one game?

You're an angel!

I won't speak for cnshockey, but if Ryan Smyth did a pirouette spinorama I'd be questioning if the apocalypse was upon us, nevermind commenting on the trade.

Lol he definitely got Parker here at 0:16, also got plenty of hair. How Parker kept hanging after that swing is beyond me.

Parker couldn't do much talent wise but he had a cement chin, especially back in his WHL days. That kid could flat out throw em and take em. Regehr gave him a pretty good go for sure.

Yes. I don't care if he looked like the biggest ****ing pylon ever and made us miss Randy Jones. The fact of the matter is it's one game, he has spent the past few years in the east, in a different system with different teammates, as well as many other small changes. I'm willing to spot any new players a few games to really fully adjust.

That being said, he did play a good game and I hope he can continue this play.

Didnt know where to post it and i guess it isnt thread worthy

ESPN Brazil interview with Regehr, talking about his "brazilian roots". The last paragraph he says:

"I didnt think about some hockey development in Brazil, because right now im focused in my career and win the Stanley Cup. Im excited to play for the Kings. I hope i can be a piece of a puzzle to help the franchise win it again."
