Love him already. Dude is a tank, and isn't nearly as slow as advertised or as awful with the puck. Just simple plays all over.

Plus, you have to be tough as **** with the name "Robyn." I bet he ate gravel in front of the other kids.

Totally different player then he has been this entire season in Buffalo. Really skated well. Nice to add a calming presence.

Plus + 2 with an assist tonight.

Solid effort.

I really think playing in the slower western conference helps Regehr look better, the east is so fast this year, it makes me think once the stanley cup final comes if the west team isnt able to slow down the game than the east team will just skate circles around them, its just so unknown because no west vs east until the cup

It usually winds up being different. The teams in the East who grind it out the best win. That's why the ECF last year was NYR vs. NJD. The same thing will happen this year, Boston will get there and play a team like Ottawa, NJ, or NYR. The Finals of the last two years indicate the direction the league is headed. All four teams who partook in them played a grinding style that required grit and physicality.

Was at the game tonight so I was really able to focus on Regher. Moves the puck well, and seems to see the ice really well. Makes quick plays to help the breakout. Has a pretty good shot. Nice assist on the second Williams goal....stood his man up at the blue line, took the puck form him, and a pretty nifty little pass to Kopitar for the secondary assist.

Overall very happy with how he looked. Important pickup for the playoffs.

People really wanted Murray more?

I really can't wait to see this guy just nail someone. His normal checks were causing the glass to rattle so much. Maybe it's the bald head, but he reminds me of Norstrom when i look at him.

One game later.

GUIZE BEST TRADE EVER!!! Didn't Keaton Ellerby look pretty good after one game? Let's just relax a bit, let him learn our system and get used to the teammates, and re-evaluate then.

This.

I like Regehr (not the price we paid though) but it's been one game. Dustin Penner had five points in his first six games for us, what happened after that?

To suddenly start trolling others for their opinion because Regehr had one good game is jumping the gun. Let him keep the play up a bit before hurting yourself doing to much backpatting.

I think sometimes people also forget how much of this relies on the forwards being good and responsible defensively, as well. If the D man doesn't have a passing option, it's easy for them to look bad. Hockey is a team game; if you're not getting puck support to make simple plays, you're gonna be in trouble.

oh I dunno...scored some big goals in the playoffs including that certain OT winner in Phoenix.

Point is, RR is NOT gonna have just ONE good game. And if he replaces Mitchell in the playoffs the price DL paid would have been damn cheap.

And why wouldnt we pat our backs who liked this trade when we have people like constantly bemoaning what we paid for him?

If you are more than one person, shouldn't your username be TruKingFans? You current username is too misleading

As for the bolded, ye he did. He's also sucked so much @$$ the rest of the time many fans were ready to waive him before the playoffs last year just to get rid of him.

And let's not forget that as good of a playoff he had, he also only scored three goals in 20 games that post-season. He didn't go all Chris Kontos for us. It's funny how people's vision gets blurred around here over a few good games and the other 100+ can be ignored.

Bottom line is, for what he's given us in his 140 or so games in a Kings uniform, Dustin Penner has pretty much **** the bed at least once on a weekly basis. The fact he actually had a decent playoffs should have been the least of our expectations, not the fulfillment of them.

And I do hope Regehr has multiple good games. I hope he looks like Willie Mitchell 2.0. My point was it's pretty silly to slam people's opinions after one game.

Honestly, I don't care if Penner never scores another goal for the Kings. His contributions in bringing us the Cup last year will forever be appreciated. Only the bean counters like you will remind us of exactly what you wrote in your post above. Besides, thought you subscribed to the notion that players can contribute to the cause without scoring goals?

yeah..my vision is blurred with that shiny Cup Penner helped us get. so be it.

loved his answer to playing the oilers sat. ......looking forward to making them miserable...........lol

I'll always say that we have now won that trade for him being a useful cog in bringing us a cup. 100% agree. I've said I'd trade Kopitar for peanuts if it guaranteed us another cup this year. There's no need to try and belittle me, we are on the same side.

But I can also look past that shiny cup gleam to at least acknowledge the fact that based on what Penner has done for us as a King is not what we expected from him, outside of one decent playoff run. On a purely hockey trade sense, Penner was a bust.

And of course there is more to a game than scoring goals. That said, when you trade for a guy who has scored 20+ goals a season repeatedly, and just had a 30+ goal year before that, then to expect more than 15 goals in 145 games isn't out of the ordinary, is it?

Not to mention for every Penner, we've had numerous Mark Parrish's and Anson Carter's. Penner's saving grace on this board is that he won a cup and played decently doing so. Not great, not stellar, decently.

Now if Regehr goes on to be a key cog in us winning the cup again this year, by all means I'll throw my support behind this trade. Winning the cup comes first, all other things are secondary. But at this point it has done nothing but amount to one good game.

Which all goes back to my initial point, which has been sidetracked by our discussion, and that is that it is rather silly to call out people for their opinion after one game.
