First off we don't have a first. To make up for that they would have wanted Bernier and DL and do better with whatever return we get for Bernier then J"boy". Happy DL passed on J"boy" RR will play solidly for us.

Considering Calgary allowed the 1st to be moved to next year if St. Louis misses the playoffs, I think they were flexible. Likely could have added a 2nd/3rd to get them to just take next years pick, not Bernier.

Surprisingly ... THIS SEASON :amazed: who knew ... that actually could help A LOT !

By comparison ... Scuderi only has 44 Blocked shots this Season.

i was more referring to the fact you said he was with Calgary.

We don't have a 1st, or the cap space.

Cap space wouldn't be an issue if you treated him like a rental and let him go after the season. Worse comes to worse, you waive him if all else fails, though I doubt that'd happen. Point is, for a 1st and two crap prospects, Bouw is a much better pick up than Regehr price wise. And considering their willingn ess to make the pick conditional, likely we could have convinced them to take our 2014 1st instead.

Since we have a lot of defense andexpendable fforwards let's trade them for Pominville yeeeeeeeah!

With the knowledge that the Kings won't be trading Bernier at the deadline, I'm thinking that he will more than likely be moved on draft day for a 1st and 2nd (and/or prospect) on draft day. Lombardi will recoup those lost picks through a Bernier trade eventually. Or he will find some college and junior free agent prospects to sign to add to the pipeline. That's how he got Muzzin, Moulson, and Purcell. They also still have Holloway and Moller as Kings property that can be used as assets to acquire more picks (or players).

As much as we need a physical guy, I'd rather have done the deal for Bouwmeester. At that price, we could have just treated him like a rental and waived him after the season if we HAD too. A conditional 1st and two crap prospects for a guy that can eat 24 minutes a game is insanely low. We paid more to rent Regehr arguably.

First, you clearly don't know what kind of player JBO is...

and second, there's this thing called the salary cap.

We may have had the cap space to fit Bouwmeester in. It all depends how the Kings decided they wanted to make things fit. Meaning regarding Mitchell, how much they gave Voynov, what to do with Martinez, which backup goalie they targeted.

A million in salary retention would have helped the Kings do that too. I would have liked to have him but it became apparent the Kings needed a physical guy.

Been a Sabres fan for 40 years. Don't listen to the fans that say Regehr has sucked this season. He started off slow but really has been playing well the last 20 games. or so.

I wish him and your team the best of luck in your quest to repeat.

thats good to know

Regehr is a stud.

You sure about that? I haven't seen him this year, and I remember him being great in Calgary, but most people talking about him lately mention the word "pylon" immediately following the words "he is a" when talking about Regher.

I think Martinez is the odd man out. Muzzin is younger, bigger and playing better. We just acquired Ellerby and Drewiske is a UFA. Either Ellerby or Drewiske have been the #7 before anyways.

Drewiske and Ellerby can go wash cars in cutoff tank tops and two pairs of Voynov's jorts for all I care. Martinez was huge in our cup run and still young. Moving him would be a mistake IMO.

Didn't st Louis just get a great deal for jbouw

If you consider missing the playoffs a great deal, sure. You just watch...

Hopefully he wears #4. :sarcasm:

Hopefully you're right (without the sarcasm).

I can't believe people are already willing to part ways with scuds. What the....

Seriously.

I don't understand why everyone is so quick to give up on Martinez. He broke his face during the lockout and was injured again earlier this season. How quickly we forget how good he was in the playoffs last year. He is the puckmover we need on the third unit.

x2

The bLOOSE getting Leopold and Jbo should put an end to Redden's career and silence any of his supporters. RR is leaps and bounds better than Murray and still better than Leopold (not as fast but better positionally and most everything else) but is so much better than Redden that the league should hand out shame sacks to anyone who thought that Redden would have been a good add.

I think the Kings would have had to ask Calgary to keep some salary, which would have upped the price. But I agree that St. Louis just got much better than the Kings did with their trade at only slightly higher cost. Which can't be a good thing.

I dislike this all around.

Most physical defensemen in the East look like pylons. In the West they often don't, Hal Gill is a notable example of that.

Sure, tell that to your owner :P Bouw is also not the type of player Lombardi was looking for.

I wouldn't want to give up Scuds or A-Mart but it may be a matter of too many cooks in the kitchen come July 1.

Mitchell (who knows)
Regehr (if the Kings want to keep him)
Greene
Doughty
Voynov (RFA, will be kept)
Muzzin (RFA)
Scuderi (UFA)
Martinez (RFA)
Ellerby (RFA, good #7 guy)

You can only play 6 guys every night, and both Martinez and Muzzin are too good to sit in the press box. Something will have to give, it's too bad.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I just love when people imply I haven't atched certian players play, but that goes 1000x more for Jay Bouw. I've watched him play since he was 15 in the WHL, and I scouted him during my then scouting gig for McKeens. I've watched him play likely 200-300 times in his career, a good chunk of which was live.

Trust me, I know PLENTY about Bouwmeester, his style, his abilities, and what he can do.

If you took what I wrote as an implication he's as physical as Regher, then go back and reread it, repeatedly if need be since reading comprehension is clearly not your strength. I said no such thing. I said I'd like to get Bouw for the price that was paid, despite the fact we needed more of a physical player. For that price, he's by far the better bang for the buck than Regehr, even if we treated him as a rental and just waived him after the season to get back to being cap compliant, which obviously would be a last resort and likely not have to be done as there was a market for Bouw and teams that would have traded to get him from us after the season.

As well, I am more than aware of the cap. It's what I post about around here alot and why I had been against trading for Bouw in the first place several times on this board. But at that price, trade for him and dump him aftr the season. Certainly an upgrade on A Mart.

The cap only becomes an issue next season, not this season. So you drop Bouw after the season.

Perhaps you could hang around here a bit more and learn what some posters speak about a bit more often in the future. You might learn something. Considering how long you've been around I figured you would have, but clearly not.
