Who would seriously want Bouwmeester at $6,680,000? I wouldn't.

St. Louis?

I think the Kings would have had to ask Calgary to keep some salary, which would have upped the price. But I agree that St. Louis just got much better than the Kings did with their trade at only slightly higher cost. Which can't be a good thing.

I dislike this all around.

Why?

Sure, tell that to your owner :P Bouw is also not the type of player Lombardi was looking for.

What am i telling my owner?

And I know Jay Bouw isn't the guy DL was looking for, I never said as such. I simply said, for the prices paid, I'd have rather gone for Jay Bouw (assuming we could have made them go for the 2014 1st instead of a conditional 2013 1st). Or even both.

Most physical defensemen in the East look like pylons. In the West they often don't, Hal Gill is a notable example of that.

I agree, he will be a bottom pairing crease clearer who got traded to a division who's play fits his style. Should be a better fit here then in Buffalo. Big team just got bigger.

Oh my god. Does this mean that someone might actually throw a big hit against Doan!?!?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I just love when people imply I haven't atched certian players play, but that goes 1000x more for Jay Bouw. I've watched him play since he was 15 in the WHL, and I scouted him during my then scouting gig for McKeens. I've watched him play likely 200-300 times in his career, a good chunk of which was live.

Trust me, I know PLENTY about Bouwmeester, his style, his abilities, and what he can do.

If you took what I wrote as an implication he's as physical as Regher, then go back and reread it, repeatedly if need be since reading comprehension is clearly not your strength. I said no such thing. I said I'd like to get Bouw for the price that was paid, despite the fact we needed more of a physical player. For that price, he's by far the better bang for the buck than Regehr, even if we treated him as a rental and just waived him after the season to get back to being cap compliant, which obviously would be a last resort and likely not have to be done as there was a market for Bouw and teams that would have traded to get him from us after the season.

As well, I am more than aware of the cap. It's what I post about around here alot and why I had been against trading for Bouw in the first place several times on this board. But at that price, trade for him and dump him aftr the season. Certainly an upgrade on A Mart.

The cap only becomes an issue next season, not this season. So you drop Bouw after the season.

Perhaps you could hang around here a bit more and learn what some posters speak about a bit more often in the future. You might learn something. Considering how long you've been around I figured you would have, but clearly not.

Regehr doesn't cough up the puck nearly as much as Bouwmee, and he is far more physical than him as well. Not sure why the heck you'd want him. People have been waiting for him to live up to his "potential" for 10 years.

I don't think the loss of the picks is that big of a deal. Maybe as far as next years deadline goes it could be less leverage.

LA has been grooming its prospects-

Toffoli
Vey
Pearson
Andreoff

-will all have important camps next year.

We also have alot of dmen paying their dues and progressing.

Regehr is a meh pick up but he is a solid vet who is good in the locker room.

Also cool that he waived to come to LA.

Excited to see if Greene comes back too.

The Ducks broadcast crew of Ahlers and Hayward were just talking about the Kings adding another big body to their blueline. They even think it's a big addition for the Kings.

I find it interesting that they still haven't specified if it's 2013's 2nd round picks or 2014's. I'm hoping we at least keep one of our 2nd round picks in this year's draft and give them a 2014 2nd rounder.

You only get one second one year and one the next. It's BOTH years.

Regehr hasn't sniffed the playoffs since 08', that's a concern I have. How many really important minutes has this guy played over the last 5-6 seasons? I'm sure all of you guys claiming to be all knowing and "smart" hockey fans will mock this, but it has to make you wonder. Specially when your team is looking for a strong SAH vet presence. Those minutes are magnified. RR is far from the player left behind by DS and as the years go by the legend tends to grow.

Two seconds was too much IMO. I wouldn't be as disappointed if they got him for less.

"@RealLisa: Per Kings, forward Dustin Penner has been placed on the injured reserve list (retroactive to March 31) due to a lower body injury."

I don't know if this is an April Fool's but I guess there's that roster spot.

I agree he's never lived up to the potential, but I'm also not wanting him to be a #1/2 either.

He'd be an excellent top 4 d-man though, the guy skates like the wind, can chip in offensively, is good on the PK and can eat 24 minutes a game. Why wouldn't we want that? You don't think what he brings dwarfs guys like A Mart and Ellerby?

I love how we have all this 'go all in no matter the price' talk around here, then when it comes to discussing bringing in a guy like Jay Bouw for what is a song, we suddenly do not want?

"@LAKings: LAK has acquired d-man Robyn Regehr from BUF for 2nd rd picks in 2014 and 2015. This trade is contingent on Regehr passing a medical exam."

BOOM! I knew it wouldn't be this year's 2nd round pick. I love this trade now!!!

Only 30 days in March...

April Fools

Regehr sees over 3 mins of ice time on the PK. Iginla hasn't seen the playoffs in the same amount of time. Were you going to complain if the Kings added him too? Regehr is younger than Mitchell and Scuderi and is always durable. He has plenty of gas left in his tank.

This is why I question what some of you say. You're just reacting because Lombardi didn't make some flashy move.

Gonna be an uneventful draft this year.

Why do you say that?

We kept our 2013 2nd and we still have JB and all of our other prospects to deal...

14 and 15 picks. Atta boy Dean

I was thinking the same thing. After Murray got two 2nds, I knew Buffalo was going to ask the same thing.

Also, now with this deal on April 1st, I would have thought it would have been a deadline deal to save as much money as possible on Regher's pro-rated salary. Instead we have two more days...maybe another deal coming?

Wow this is amazing. I don't want Bouwmeester either, I never thought he was good in all honesty.

What's amazing about it? That they could only dig up one turnover to show repeatedly? I think all D-men have turnovers.

No one, not even I, am implying he's Bobby Orr out there, but he's a solid top 4 who can eat up minutes like Pac-Man eats pellets. For a 1st and two guys who'll likely never see the NHL in any significant capacity, that's dirt cheap.
