We still have 8 picks in the draft this year, and now an abundance of players to shed, might pick up another, who knows. Bernier can also catch us a first at the deadline if we go that way, Lombardi was asking for one and more at one point for him earlier this year.

I'm fine with this trade. Kings need a stay at home defenseman that can kill penalties and block shots. Traded 2 late 2nd rounders for him. This will also give them a better chance at a resign if they need it because of Mitchell hurt or Scuderi leaving.

Losing the picks really doesn't hurt the Kings.

For those saying overpayment, understand this: there were teams willing to pay that price for depth defensemen like Jordan Leopold and Douglas Murray. The Kings are competing with other clubs to acquire a big, rugged defenseman who can log close to 20 mins of ice time.

It's the market value for strengthening your roster for a deep playoff run. I like their chances with Regehr better than going in with Ellerby in the lineup.

Douglas Murray is way better than Robyn Regehr, at least DM was worth the two 2nd rounders. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out.

Overpayment yes, but I like it and I think he will add alot to our team in the playoffs. In the summer we could trade Bernier for a 1st round pick and Martinez for a pick if he doesnt get traded at the deadline. So I think we have options to get some picks back. Now all we need is a top 6 forward. Go Kings Go!!!

When you are in a position to win now, sometimes you gotta sacrifice some of the future. We'll see how it works out but I'm happy they got a vet defenseman.

Well, he was making 4 million and is going to be a UFA...

My question is what happens if the Kings decide to re-sign Regehr and Mitchell comes back next year...? Do the Kings let Scuderi walk?

Doughty-Regehr
Voynov-Mitchell
Greene-Martinez/Muzzin

Omg Regehr as a first pairing dman :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

"@SportsnetSpec: David Perron, with 3 yrs left at $3.8M AAV, gets my vote as most likely to be dealt now in STL."

This is interesting.

I'm banking Bernie going to the flames if kipper gets dealt. We will be able to grab one of their 3 1st rounders :D

I don't understand why everyone is so quick to give up on Martinez. He broke his face during the lockout and was injured again earlier this season. How quickly we forget how good he was in the playoffs last year. He is the puckmover we need on the third unit.
Muzzin-DD
Scuds-VV
Martinez-Regehr
Ellerby

It sucks but DD44 has to be the guy.

They should let Scuds walk anyway if Mitchell comes back. If the Kings do decide to keep Regehr, I suppose Martinez may be leaving too. Ellerby can be the #7 D.

Lets see here. 2 second rounders for...

Playoff roster

Doughty\Scuderi
Voynov\Regehr
Muzzin\Green

and in the wings Martenez, Ellerby, Drewiske and in the event of a miracle Mitchell. If Mitchell returns, We repeat. As of now, we got a very good chance at it. X-Factor J.Quick

The PK and 5 on 5 just got a ton better. Kings win in this deal.

Oh not to mention, Doughty can now focus on his offense!!
