RD Bode Wilde (2018, 41st, NYI)

He should be putting up #'s as should most players that have 2 yrs of USHL experience plus 2 yrs of International experience.
He's playing against kids that have 2 or 3 yrs left in high school and are 2 yrs younger than him.

Size and skating ability are good BUT hockey sense is another issue which he always lacked

OHL players range in age from 16 to 21 years old, with the guys playing most being 17 to 20. Wilde is 18 years old, so he's right in the same age group as most of his opponents.

They will be 17 ( 2002's) or 21 ( 1998's) after Jan 1 2019 and yes he's in the middle a 2000 birth year.
BUT the best 2000,1999 and 1998's CHL players are in NHL / AHL already.
This is not your 1st rodeo, you know exactly what I'm explaining

Your post made it sound like he's playing against a bunch of 16 year olds, when in reality 16 year olds do not get a lot of playing time in the OHL. Wilde's playing against opponents his own age, and since I assume he did not sign his OHL contract until after the NHL Draft, he is not tied to the OHL after this season and will most likely move on to the AHL next season. It's a route we've seen work well for 1st round draft picks, such as J.T. Miller and Sonny Milano.

I was a bit disappointed that we passed on him with our 2nd round pick but McLeod looked good for us in preseason to make me feel a bit better. Solid pick by the Islanders, the 2018 draft should be one to remember for many years.

In a perfect world, at least 3 of Wilde, Ishakov, Skarek, Jenkins, Dobson and Wahlstrom pan out. Reminds me of the islanders 2008 draft, a lot of good shots at the dartboard, a few should stick.

That was a good draft for us. I hope we don't do another Spurgeon.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS: Bode Wilde, D, Saginaw-OHL
I’ve generally been impressed by Wilde and scouts I’ve talked to have echoed that. He shows his high-end mobility and skill, impacting the transition game for Saginaw and being a dangerous player rushing the puck up the ice. There’s still a bit of Wilde-ness in his game. He has a few too many turnovers and forces plays that aren’t there. It’s not as bad as I saw last season, though, and I think the good notably outweighs the bad given the impact he has around the puck. He’ll have moments too where he launches a saucer pass that splits the D or wows the crowd with an amazing skill play. If he keeps up this play he’ll be in the running for top defenseman in the OHL this season.

Pronman: Around the Farms -- Which prospects are having...

Don’t forget about Pivonka. That’s a Trotz player if there ever is one (even if he never plays for him).

Maybe cross poor Ruslan off the list, that hit looked horrible :(

I hope he is okay, thankfully they are much more careful with concussion monitoring. But the NCAA season is so short, it sucks he will likely miss crucial development time

Keeping this related to Wilde, how does everyone feel about PK Subban as a comparable? Not saying he will be as good, just play style

The three that seem to be mentioned the
Most are Subban, Burns, and Byfuglien.

If he comes close to either of those I’d be ecstatic. But style wise I can see the comparisons.
