Go away for the day and come back and this is what happens. It's a good signing for the Rangers. He's a solid guy. I didn't want to be moving both him and Callahan. I know that some think differently but I think this will be good for us.
Gets the C next year too?
Continuity. It's a good thing. Tons of turnover is rarely beneficial, unless you have a team that's a ****ing mess. We may not be the model of consistency, but we have some nice pieces, and Girardi is one. Glad we're keeping him around.
Girardi is one of the players I like best on the Rangers. Some people almost accuse him of benefitting by playing first with Staal and then McDonagh. I would put it down as 'works well with others'. Yeah--he's not the greatest skater or a big point producer but he's also proved he can play huge amounts of really tough minutes against the leagues best players. To me he's an underrated player on these boards.
Go deal for both sides. IMO Girardi is more valuable then Callahan.
Can't argue with 5.5. Fair deal, even if he starts declining earlier.
Anyone know if there's a NMC?
Anyone know if there's a NMC?
NMC for first 3 years, limited NTC for last 3 I believe.
Yes. The deal also includes a full no-move clause in the first three years of the contract, which kicks in immediately, and a modified no-trade clause in the final three years of the deal.
