My issue isn't with the move itself, but what it signifies.

Everyone would be fine if this was Mike Steveson, AHL journey man and loving father of 3 beautiful children. Signing McLeod is a continuation of the toughness deterrence mentality from this management that has done nothing except ruin 4th lines.

I don't think this move is indicative of anything in the future.
I would have been more worried if they had handed out some of the contracts that other guys of this ilk got this summer.

Yeah good move, he wasn’t horrible last season and can daddy the kids.
More importantly, I don’t for a second believe in investing more in some borderline 4th line grinder like Komarov to become more gritty. In analogy to the saying — ‘you are what you eat’ — you can certainly state that you are what you send out on the ice. You can have Boogaard x 3 on the 4th line but if they play 9 min per game the other 51 minutes has a helluva lot bigger impact on how gritty you are...
I am perfectly fine with a complete — but cheap — bum in that depth grinding role.
If we want to become more gritty, it needs to come from at least 2 of our top 3 lines.

Pretty easy - and mercilessly boring - to pile on with the anti-McLeod message. This ‘signing’ couldn’t be more irrelevant. In simple terms, it keeps him employed at the vet minimum level (I assume). He’ll end up on waivers in December after appearing in twelve games. Everyone is just starved for real news. Nothing to see here.
This is absolutely not a sign of anything. Let's not create a mountain out of a molehill.

I was not impressed last year. He's a tough guy---I have no doubt about that but IMO he did a shit job of proving it for us.
