It doesn't matter to me that it's only one year. If he's playing, it's a waste of ice time. Do we really have no reason to doubt that a deserving kid won't be stapled to the bench for him? I don't know how we can say that. We don't what Quinn is going to do with a guy like this. And the fact that management continues to bring these guys in, makes me worry that he'll play.
Even if he's just taking a shift that could be used to demonstrate that Nieves absolutely doesn't belong in the NHL, then that's a waste! There is literally no circumstance where McLeod taking a shift is not a waste. It's either a waste because it could be going to a young player (like Lettieri last season) or to a fringe player like Nieves or Fogarty, or to someone who is also irrelevant but not completely useless.
There's just no need. He literally contributes nothing on the ice. Anyone else, kid, 4A guy, spare part, would be a better person to have out there. That's just how I see it. Every time he skates, we are wasting TOI that could be used on something else.
