I really just dont think he will cut it as a top6 center. He has to learn how to play for his linemates and to his strengths. His vision/gamesense/IQ is so awkward.

Disagree. For pretty much his first game playing as a top 6 center, he did fine. And even though he's been here forever, he's still just 21. He's going to get better the more he gets these opportunities (as he's gotten better every year here).

He doesn't help Panarin at all, there's a reason Strome holds that spot. Some players styles clash, i could see him in the top 6, but not with Panarin, so that would mean Panarin and Zib which would make it easier to line match us. If i was Chytil and NY looks to resign Strome I'd be willing to budge on switching to wing, i could see him beside Zib.

55% on the dots, 21:02 TOI. Wished he played better but Panarin didn't help him like he would usually do.

It's like I said in another post--he just deferred too much. He's a substitute center on that line, and he played like it. More than a few times he'd make the pass to Bread when he could have just skated the puck into the zone. He looked like a young kid more concerned with not f***ing up the top line than in playing his game. I still think that, by the end of this season, nobody will have any questions about whether he can be a second line center in the NHL.

It has certain elements of last year's system but it's still way different.
Their play easily speaks to that.

The team is better constructed and the players have more experience. They are playing the exact same way, if theres one difference is that they are more willing to flip the puck out to center under pressure, thats it imo.

K’Andre and Nils are the same age. Miller looked great up until that 3rd period and hasn’t been playing defense as long as Nils has. Yet there’s no hate for Nils, but people are so quick to call K’Andre dumb and AHL worthy

What some say or don't say about Lundkvist doesn't really matter. Miller's play has been borderline atrocious. The positioning itself is very concerning and needs some time to fix.

Personally, I thought Jones and Schneider were both better than Miller and Lundkvist in camp.

Disagree, all 5 players are getting back to defend as opposed to last year where the fwds would stand up high and just watch

If he keeps deferring to Bread (rather than settling down and just playing his game), then I agree that they probably wouldn't be a good fit. In terms of their game? I would actually say that Chytil with his shot is actually a better fit than Strome. But that won't matter if Chytil can't see himself as an equal on that line. Still, it's been one game, and Strome may be back by the next one anyway, so it's a moot point. He got a game in the top six, didn't do poorly, and had good face-off numbers. That's a win for the kid.

He and Zib are both shooters, so I don't see how they'd fit at all. I'd stack the top line and reunite the kids (who did well last year in limited minutes). Strome is likely gone unless either he or Fox (or both) take a big discount. That leaves a pretty much perfect 3rd line of Blais, Barron, and Goodrow.
