Some of the questions from these people. "And so you're signed with the Rangers now?" Durrr. "Why sign now, why was now the time?" Maybe because if he didn't sign now the Rangers would have lost his rights.

I don't expect these guys to be experts about random kids we drafted several years ago, but come on.

Totaly understand why some canadian top-prospects are going the NCAA route when there is no way out of the CHL if you are drafted out of it. They can always go back to the CHL for a year post draft or after trying college and not beeing stuck in the CHL if their draft +2 seasons warrants the jump to AHL.

Yeah, and building on what I was talking about earlier with the NHL-CHL transfer agreement, I think it's only a matter of time before the NCAA begins allowing CHL players to enroll in college and play there. Obviously now, you can't do that. With the NCAA losing basically every lawsuit it's involved in, and with the NIL thing allowing players to earn income as it is, why not allow those CHL kids to come play college hockey? I would be shocked if it doesn't happen in the next 5-10 years.

Get ready Matthew. The Rangers will need you at some point this season.

I read Sykora would prefer to play at Nitra for one more season. Let the kid decide where he wants to play next season.

Robertson is who the Rangers envision playing with Schneider long-term. Not Jones. Not Lundkvist. Size and skating ability are what succeed in the playoffs

Schneider-Robertson have been in my mind the long term top or at least second pair since they've surfaced in the organization.

Yeah, I thought this q&a went south real fast when they started digging into his past injury. Felt bad for him.

I'm just happy we get coverage that's not from an intern's smartphone

Has Lindbom shown any signs of promise? I know there were a few people that were down on him, but not sure if that was just his performance relative to draft position.

Does he have a shot at an NHL future?

I'm doubtful. He'll probably end up in the ECHL this year. He'll need to be very good there and get at least some AHL time this year if he's going to have any kind of NHL future.

He has not performed consistently well at any level since his U18 international days. For the past several years he has battled injuries and poor play. The most encouraging thing about this past year was that he generally stayed healthy.

Last season, he had every opportunity to win the starting job for his Allsvenskan team (Sweden's second level) and was blown out of the water by Frederick Dichow, a guy Montreal drafted in the fifth round a few years ago. Lindbom finished with a GAA of 3.20 and SV% of .900 even. The other guy was at 2.20 and .930. I just use the comparison to show that Lindbom's performance wasn't due to just having a questionable defense in front of him--he just wasn't that good.

I actually thought it was pretty likely that the Rangers would sign him, given all their goaltending departures and the fact that he's only 21. I've never been impressed; he's not overly athletic and for a guy that is supposed to be a technically sound goaltender, finds himself out of position a lot. Again, though, he's 21 (about to be 22). It's not uncommon for guys to come into their own at 24 or so, and given the opportunity to work more closely with Allaire, there is some reason to remain hopeful about him.

I still think he should go back to juniors. He played like what is it now, 3-4 weeks ago? A short time off, development camp, then the WJSS preparing for the WJC, after that Traverse (?) and Camp.

When is he supposed to train? I rather see him in the OHL, he won’t be scared of like doing squats on Sunday night because he got a game on Wednesday and wants to be 100%. Then comes the WJC. He will be on a good junior team that should play late again.

We need to be patient with these guys, my feeling is definitely that the longer we give kids to develop the better it is. KAM is a good example. He is obviously a mega talent that should have gone top 5-10 in his draft year, but if he had and we would have rushed him to the NHL at 18, his development path to date would just be corned with so much more adversity. Right? Instead he got to work at his game, develop himself. Not an overly tough schedule.

Like when a kid shows up for his first real pro season, you want him to feel that he is in excellent shape, have done everything possible. You want him to feel that he got a special jump when he is on the ice. How can Othman compete physically with like another winger who has been around a few years? That guy can set out a three month schedule and execute it. Othman get a few weeks and a ton of travel.
He has already played against men in the Swiss league 2 years ago. He should get at least 9 games with the Rangers.

Have you read this or is it your opinion?
i think this was the position 18 months ago,
and i love Robertson's game,
but from day 1 w NYR, Jones has shown more readiness, and all-round game, than maybe was anticipated

i hope they don't make decisions on the young D depth too soon,
a couple injuries at once, and they'll need all hands
