If we're running back this roster next season, there's no way we make it past the second round. Not when the only thing you can count on the "Leadership" group leading us to is bad losses and terrible playoff performances
Who said we are running back this roster and even if they did what teams are going to be better in the east? Carolina and Florida are both going to lose significant pieces. I don't see any other teams that would be significantly better than this team. Oh, and there will definitely be changes to this roster. Some of them may be significant.

Who gives a shit if their wives and girlfriends were on the trip? Every team in almost every sport has that type of arrangement in the playoffs.

Also their hotel is ON the beach, they were at the Ritz in Fort Lauderdale.

Anyone annoyed by this needs to get their shit together.

I'd be annoyed by it if it happened between games 5 and 6 but I don't know how that would be possible. That was their travel day and I don't think they got off the plane, got checked in and then hit the beach right away.

Between games 3 and 4 on Memorial day after an OT win? I'm not pressed at all.

Disagree on this point, especially if the player is a leader on the team. Also, if what you're saying is true, what's the point of break up day or us paying any attention to it at all? Or posting about it on this forum?
Because it's a requirement and a media obligation. What they actually say is measured and has no bearing on what happens in the off season and next year. I didn't hear anything that was so egregious anyway.

A lot of posters always get emotional after a season ending loss because another team was better. Florida will destroy Edmonton and that may change some views about this teams failures this series. I think Drury is a smart guy and is a bit of a Dbag which is a good thing. This team will be different but will once again be one of the top teams in the east. Will it be good enough to get over the hump remains to be seen.

Florida puck pressures a lot like Carolina only they're a lot more physical doing it. I also think their big game players played more like big game players than ours did. The Canes wouldn't have beat them either. The Panthers have shown they are the best team in the East. Right now I look at us as the second best and we're not close enough or at least not without Igor. I think we need to fix the D a bit and to purge at least some of our passengers. I also think we need to take a look at Chytil.....whether he's been concussed one time too many because if there's a next one it might be the end for him.

For me the guys who really showed up throughout are Igor, Trocheck, Lafreniere, Goodrow. They were all consistently good game after game no matter who we played. Other guys are still very much on the young side and haven't hit their prime. Some players may have been playing hurt. We also have in house prospect options. I expect some changes but not sure it will be anything drastic.

I think they COULD win with the majority of what they already have. We're not talking about blowing up this team (yet). If Drury can add a legit winger on Zbad's line, a shut-down d-man and perhaps another player on the 3rd or 4th line that can hit the broad side of a barn with a puck, that makes a big difference. Plus we have Igor for another year on THIS contract and he's in his absolute prime. So to me this all has to do with making a few key moves and being okay with parting ways with a few guys. They aren't THAT far off but they have to be willing to make the necessary changes. We'll see if Drury is.

I think Kakko has to go. It's better for both parties if he does get traded.
I think if they can trade Trouba they should - I just don't see it happening.
Roslovic - gone
Wennberg - gone
E. Gus - don't want him

I think you can use Panarin to GET to the playoffs next year. Plus, he's not going anywhere, right? All the players that we're all complaining about? They're not going anywhere. Let's be serious. Again, unless you make a big trade at the deadline next year. And this has to take into consideration the NMClauses and all that.

Then there's the guys in the system. Does Edstrom make the team? Othmann? Berard? Does this help the bottom 6? Lots of mysteries between now and October.

Kakko is tailor-made to break analytics models.

He's great at regaining and keeping possession, but has absolutely zero skill at doing anything with said possession.

And I understand there's value in keeping the puck out of your own end, but the xGF models don't adequately reflect how hopeless he is at generating offense.

Is he still a "plus" player? Absolutely, but his value is that of a bottom-6 shutdown winger. If another team values him as something more, you take what they're offering and run.

Totally unrelated, but can you imagine a breakup day where instead of these boring writers asking questions, a dozen HFNYR posters go and ask the questions?

Time to petition Chris to make it happen
It would range from outrageous questions like "Do you still keep in touch with Brett Howden?" to yelling at Mika for being vegan. No in betweens.

I think xGF is good (or at least as good as it gets) but I think it's misused.

For a while his line had the top xGF% in the playoffs, slightly ahead of McDavids line.

McDavid's line had a xGF/xGA difference of +2 goals where as Kakko's line was like +.5.

I'd rather have the bigger difference than the higher percentage. I think that its perfectly fine if you're on a line that doesn't score a bunch and doesn't allow anything in your end either (especially if you're matching up against another team's top line) but they weren't really used that way. Perhaps they should have been but thats another story.

Yea, too bad he didn't give him more than 15 minutes this series. What the hell was he waiting for? Mika to score? Bad job by Lavy, sorry.
Yep. Most of us were screaming for Laf to be on the top unit PP like halfway into the season. I get not wanting to change the PP in the 3rd round of the post season, but its Laf's time. And we know who has to be removed from it. Will the coach remove him from it? I highly doubt it. But then to not give Laf increased minutes when he's our best player...Just mind numbing.

It will be the same setup next season and it will succeed not because of Mika. And people will tell us were dumb for wanting to change the "Best PP" in the NHL.

Guess we have to be optimistic with Lavi/Drury.

LOL. Do you really think you're worth an 8 million dollar cap hit a year?
