Rangers have to accept what he is instead of trying to push him to what he may never become. Can fans accept him as a 3rd line RW'er? Can the organization?

I just don't see him getting much more opportunities here, for him to even try and reach his potential. He did have some opportunity but it never lasted because of his play. He needs new scenery if he is ever going to try and reach that potential, whatever it is.

Kakko was the consensus 2ndOA so can't even fault the drafting decisions on that one.

If McRanger92 was running the team, I'd deal Trouba for anyone who would take him, Make Fox captain, strip Mika and Panarin of the A's and give them full time to Trocheck and Kreider. Too many cooks, and Mika and Panarin are just not cut out to be the emotional leaders of the team. Sorry if it's embarrassing to lose your A but its happened to better players than both of them.

If he wants to play 3rd line, he needs to add something to his game.

Penalty Killing, Energy (lol), Physicality (lol)... something.

He doesn't bring enough currently to play the 3rd line (imo).

Question is what is his realistic potential to reach? Does he still believe he can be a top 6 player? Do the Rangers still believe that too? Or is he starting to accept that he may need to re-invent himself as a bottom 6 role player to stick in the NHL? He never looks like he has an endgame when he's on the ice, just holds the puck and skates around. He's like Kevin Hayes without any finishing ability.

If he stays in NY, he has to be stapled to the PK from day 1. That's basically a completely unexplored aspect of his game throughout his entire NHL career and one I think that he would be good at. Have him work with a guy like Goodrow.

This team will not be the same next year. There will be changes made, particularly on defense. Kakko is a goner, so are Gus, Wheeler, and probably Lindgren. Say goodbye to Roslovic and Wennberg most likely also. I would say Trouba also but maybe that ankle injury gave him another year here. He was absolutely worse after the injury than before tbh. Bottom line I think they will once again be at the top of the metro and be a better built team after this summer. Kids like Rempe, Edstrom, Berard, Jones, and maybe Othmann will be pushing for more playing time also. Not a bad thing to have really.

So basically you are saying it's going to be exactly the same team as this year

What a disaster the Trouba story is -

they could have LTIR'd him and didn't
they could have played Jones and didn't
they could have gone 11-7 and didn't (sorry Mr Rempe)

Trouba played when he was <100% (and he's not good even when healthy).

And for what?? This team's management is too frightened to do the right thing.

I’m fine trading him , but not if we are just throwing in Kakko to do so. He still has value despite the board thinking he’s the worst player ever.
