His toughness has never been in question.

His game fell off a cliff this year and this is just the latest injury in a career that has been filled with them. Playing through shit is a badge of honor until it isn't.

I will have happy memories of Lindgren's toughness when he is playing for the San Jose Sharks next year. It's how he'd want to be remembered.

And for those that think the Trouba commentary is revisionist history or hindsight being 20/20, the second he got injured many on this board immediately said “this is a very obvious time to LTIR someone and open up $8.5m in cap space”. It was so incredibly obvious the opportunity that provided at the time.

For us to not do it and then rush him back - and for what? Home ice advantage? - was insane.
And also, that home ice advantage would have been secured earlier and easier without him.

Look back at Gorton's track record and tell me Drury is worse with a straight face. Gorton's first major UFA signing was Kevin Shattenkirk. It never got much better. You dont like Drury's trades? How about McD/Miller? If Gorton didnt screw things up so bad before the rebuild, we might not have ever needed to have one. Coincidentally, he did his best to f*** up the rebuild to. Drury's reputation imo unfairly suffers from that.

Gorton wasnt great. I am just saying that Drury hasnt done all that much in his 3 seasons and is a mixed bag at best. This is still Gortons team at its core. Drury needs to make his mark. He could absolutely make the team worse, he can make it better. This is a big offseason for him.

That I agree with

Well of course, but coming to that conclusion requires you to realize the team is actually better off without him. And that's something nobody in our organization is willing to admit.

Can't wait to run a 3rd line of Cuylle-Chytil-Kaapo Puljujarvi next year and then wonder why Florida globetrotter's past us again.

Mmmmmmm I don't think so. There will be changes no matter what Zibanejad says about it being close. The scores were close, the play wasn't. I don't think this is lost on Drury.

But will Drury have the balls to get rid of trouba.

Look zibby isnt going anywhere bc of his contract. But trouba and to a lesser extent Kreider could be moved to make the big shakeup.

I dislike Kakko the player but he seems like a nice kid. I think it benefits both parties to send him somewhere else. We need a big upgrade at top6 RW and a 3rd line RW who provides the same impact as Kakko is not hard to find. I know he was the 2nd overall pick, but it wasnt Drury's pick.

Really is he though? I mean a majority of this team was constructed under Gorton, including all the top players except trocheck.

He is miles ahead in drafting. That i give u.

But the rest remains to be seen as he hasnt done all that much to the core yet. Mostly around the edges.

This summer will be the test for him. If he walks it back it means he doesnt have a plan or the balls to make a big hockey change.

Thats the difference between a good gm and an avg one. Its why the knights won last year and why florida is most likely going to win this year.
Yes, he is. His biggest mistake was trading Buch and the awful return. I think his drafting and vision are excellent. Almost every deadline add were market value or better also. It can be argued that he should have done more this year but I'm actually glad he didn't. Guentzel didn't get Carolina over the hump and probably wouldn't have with the Rangers either and the cost would have stung. He's a good GM and I think he will continue to make sound decisions moving forward. His draft picks will also start to show why they were drafted starting next year.
