And for those that think the Trouba commentary is revisionist history or hindsight being 20/20, the second he got injured many on this board immediately said “this is a very obvious time to LTIR someone and open up $8.5m in cap space”. It was so incredibly obvious the opportunity that provided at the time.

For us to not do it and then rush him back - and for what? Home ice advantage? - was insane.

Difference is guys who play on an NHL team have access to doctor's who can give very nice injections that don't allow you to feel pain.

It's not like you can be "sedated" on painkiller injections and still play NHL hockey at the top of your game, especially not with a clear head. A local will not clear all of that pain up and sometimes its just as hard to have a body part function while just numbed out. Ever try to eat, speak, or just not drool when you've been injected with novacaine? Hahaha. It's certainly not that simple.

Tkachuk is currently signed for 4 more years. Buchnevich was also never close to a PPG player for the Rangers. We can agree to disagree, he'll be back next year for Kakko and a 1st if it were up to me.

Its still the same salary cap u are spending. It makes no difference if he is signed or an RFA, bc an RFA is basically signed for at least a year anyway.. A UFA does make a difference though.

I give him credit for his strong drafts. But he is absolutely been shit on trades and is just avg on fa signings. Though he has been a little hamstrung on cap.

- The Rangers play 11 games without him in the lineup and then force him back despite not being fully healed
- In those 11 games, the Rangers go 9-2 against one of the toughest stretch of their schedule and Zac Jones plays terrific hockey
- Zac Jones never plays again and Jacob Trouba plays below replacement level hockey in the playoffs

I just grade him with the nuance I would want myself to be graded on in that position. I can at least see the logic in most of his moves. Plus idk who you are replacing him with. He is miles better of a GM than Jeff Gorton.

Kreider thinks the games in the ECF were basically a toss up. "Razor thin margins". "We just need to be 5-10% better". "Work on all areas of the game".

Again - this is delusional thinking. The scores were close but the play was lopsided. You could know zero about hockey and see they were outplayed and have some glaring weaknesses to address. A leader needs to know that, seems like this core hasn't come to that conclusion yet.
