Kravtsov, Nieves and McKegg are all Hartford bound IMO. They’ll run with 22, Smith will be the extra F &D.

Like since the 2011 draft.
You’re right. Math fail. McKegg as the 13th F.it would be 22 with 1 of those forwards as the 13th forward
As of today, looks like:
Panarin - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Kreider - Chytil - Kakko
Skjei-Trouba
DeAngelo - Staal
Fox - Hajek
Lundqvist
Georgiev
The bottom six forward group is a total mystery with Andersson, Howden, Strome, Namestnikov, Kravtsov, Fast, Lemieux, Nieves, Haley, and Rangers legend Greg McKegg.
McKegg makes me think of Tony McKegney.
Not gonna lie. I'd be intrigued by a crash line of Nieves, McKegg, and Haley. A third line of Andersson, Fast, and Lemieux. That would leave Howden, Strome, and Namestnikov on the outside looking in. But Quinn is gonna status quo, I bet.
That line would rival the GAG line, except they'd be the GAS line: Goal A Season.
I don't think McKegg would have signed here without a guarantee he would start in the NHL. He had his choice of team to sign with this summer and would have went to someone else if that was the case. He's also been pretty good so far in the preseason games he's played.
Agree. As either the 4C or 13th forward in platoon with Nieves.I’m pretty sure McKegg will make the team.

Nieves/McKegg are 13th forward or first Hartford call up, bottom 6 is all pretty much interchangeable.
Kravtsov in Hartford to start. Just too crowded right now. He would benefit from playing 20 minutes a night for a few weeks, IMO.
In terms of a couple of player & coaching related reviews:
Rauenen needs to get in more games. Look it was valuable experience for Robertson to play... but the smarter move would be to ice a guy who is more ready. Robertson flat out sucked last night. That's not putting a kid in a place to succeed. Tarmo on the other hand played with smarts and pace- one of the only players to do so. He needs to get a longer look. Last night was a missed opportunity.
Really liking Chytil so far. Making smart and fast plays... to the point where I think he's playing around players who a step slower in their thinking and positioning. This is not a bad thing- but a good sign from Fil.
On Kravstov- I think he needs to stay up. Are there a couple of moments where he hung on to the puck too long. Yes. But he's made a lot of high skill plays and passes that opens up ice and creates the chance for pucks and bodies to move towards the net.
McKegg- He shouldn't be getting PP time. But he is a much much better player than Nieves in that 4th line LW/C role. It's his to lose imo.
Lemieux- He's going to play the rest of the way right? Is Nick Jones, Timmy Gets, Connor Brickley & Di Guisseppe going to play in the NHL every night? Where is the guy that can?
Line Changes- Another too many men on the ice penalty, and a bunch of scoring chances because you don't know how to coach a line change. This is the NHL and not college hockey. Get your **** together. Amateur hour means lost ticket sales and ratings. I'm okay with rebuilding, I'm not okay with amateurism. Get your **** together. Practice what you preach.

Preach. Pee wees know not to get too many men penalties. Pisses me off so much when this team does it. It's a gimme for the other team.
I only disagree on Kravtsov. Unless a Namestnikov, Strome, or Kreider is dealt before opening night, there's no spot for him. While I see flashes of the skill and the potential, he's just not there yet. Playing 20 minutes a night in Hartford until the first major top 6 injury or until Christmas time wouldn't be the worst thing for him. For him to make the team for opening night, he would have to wow everyone in preseason. He hasn't done that in his ice time...yet.
Agree on Reunanen and prospects like Keane, Gettinger, Rykov, and Shesterkin. The Rangers need to see what they have in these guys. Same with Kravtsov. They're the ones that should be playing every game and not Micheal Haley. We all know what Haley is. AHL depth that can get called up and dressed for when the Rangers play cheap shot artist teams like the Caps and Flyers.
If the Rangers wanted more looks for their regulars, they would schedule more pre-season games. They don't.Apparently I'm in the minority but I don't have any issue with fringe players getting looks in preseason games. The Rangers need to see what they have in these guys and this is the time to do it instead of trying to fit them in when the games actually matter. For all of the talk from Quinn about so many open spots, we know who's in line to fill them. There's 14 or 15 forwards and 8 or 9 D who are realistically in the mix and the battle for those spots will go on well into the early parts of the year.
