Kravtsov, Nieves and McKegg are all Hartford bound IMO. They’ll run with 22, Smith will be the extra F &D.
It should be interesting who is here opening day. I happen to think, the three you mentioned will all make it out of camp, so there are a lot of possibilities.

I think Kravtsov will start in hartford...he's better off getting top line minutes there than bottom 6 in ny to adjust to NA....the bottom 6 will be andersson & howden as the centers and namestnikov, strome, lemieux and fast as the wingers. pick your combos...either nieves or mckegg as the 13th forward
Agree on Kravtsov. And the faster we all accept that these guys need time, the better. I'm pretty sure they're going to be awful in general for the first quarter. Or, at least that's how I'm hedging.
Quinn and Co. certainly understand this which is why we'll probably see as many vets as possible hanging around... For a while. Until kids force changes or the boat generally stabilizes.

The Rangers play only 3x in the first 15 days of the season..... -Don't be surprised if pretty much anyone and everyone not named Kaako who is waiver exempt is sent to Hartford even just on paper during this time to save as much cap space as possible.

This could very well determine our opening day lineup. Very good observation there. Almost like another two weeks of training camp.

All of that is on the coaching.
We are all expecting players to take a step forward this season, but the same expectation is placed on the coaches as well.

And with a team as young as we are, coaching is all that much more important. They are going to be even more responsible this year.

not sure Boo would pass thru unclaimed, maybe McKegg not either
timing is key. if you waive them very close to opening day, teams are already mostly committed to a plan
Other guys at risk include Fogarty, ORegan, DiGiuseppe

personally i think Smith gets waived, even they intend to keep him early, his salary discourages a claim

changing topics - any one have a theory (or insight) why Leedahl is still w NYR - is he hurt? or getting a game?

When Kaapo Kakko was five, he was bitten by a black mamba snake. After three days, Kaapo's bloodstream successfully absorbed the black mamba's venom. However, the black mamba died from Kakko blood poisoning

When we acquired McKegg, I assumed that he would either be bumping Nieves out of the lineup or at least serving as a 13th forward.

That said, I would say there's still a good chance he clears waivers. Before the latter part of last year this guy was just a bust. I think Nieves and the rest of them will go through without any problems as well. Fogarty and DiGiuseppe and those guys, they're all a dime a dozen.

well technically he is still bumping nieves to be the 13th forward...

but I agree thats why he'll be the 13th forward...of the guys you'd consider putting in that role he's been the best in the preseason and is the least likely to clear waivers, I think he still clears by why risk it.

of course that all assumes that Kravtsov starts in hartford...if he makes the team and bumps someone like strome or fast to the press box that changes everything

I love spirited debates on who they think will make the opening night roster. I think it’s exciting that we literally don’t know who’s in the roster opening night. That’s sometimes a good problem to have.

Totally get what you are saying- It's managing the roster with Kravstov. Just posted exactly what you said. Still think Vitali would be better off in the NHL than AHL, but it's a matter of roster fit and cap space opening night. I would love to see one of Names or Strome moved. Preferably Names due to Strome being a RH shot.

I'm seriously beginning to question the intelligence level of the coaching staff. They are lacking foresight. The excuse ridden post game interviews are getting tiresome and we haven't started the season yet.

And I like Quinn but I don't like what they are doing.

Here comes the newest blame game on the coaching staff! Vigneault out, Quinn in.

I don't think lias looks a ton faster at all to be honest...I think the biggest difference is he's constantly moving his feet...he was such a floater last year...it's why I couldn't understand the "motor" comments about him.

He's kept his feet moving this preseason and it's made a monumental difference. He also looks much stronger on the boards ..he was a big gaping black hole in the boards last season..bow he looks decent. He's not consistently winning the battles...but it's a battle now..they're 50 50. That's a big difference

I haven't been able to watch any of the preseason yet but is his leg strength lending to better balance now as well? Last year he seemed very weak in the lower half and semi constantly was on the ice...

He's definitely absorbing contact and not flipping over like a noob.

Legit question... Has a single defenseman looked better under Lindy ruffs tutelage?

Maybe you could say DeAngelo

But I'm more about that being the Quinn bin and not Lindy....
