If there was ever a time for a coaching change, it's now or very soon. There's every reason to do it.
It has been Trev's ace in the hole the entire time.
Things go to shit, fire longterm coach and make it seem like change is occurring.

A coach will help but the problem goes deeper and until those big cap rises come in a few years the leafs are going to have issues.

The defenseman we acquire would need to be a franchise pillar type guy who is young enough you can invest 4-5 years in at the least like when they brought Brodie in. We can't replace 3-4 guys on the blueline every year.
yea we need to bring in a solid rock who can secure 2 LD or 2RD being our #2 for a while. Someone brought up Hanifin, I wouldn’t be opposed to him depending on the ask.

1 year deals are dumb af as you either have to overpay them the next year, find replacements constantly, or get f***ed like this year and have no capspace to do anything

Yeah maybe if one was a goalie who can stop a beach ball.
Coming into this game, we had +2.3 GSAx goaltending on the season. We set a franchise record with 115 points while getting -21 GSAx goaltending.
Our new GM just completely abandoned the concept of defense this past offseason.
How is that working out for us.
We had a consistent top tier team when we weren't wasting the other 50%.

They didn't know it would end up heing the 12th, again we are talking about a young true top 2 defenceman

They knew they were likely getting 16th at worst... It is a young D who is often injured... I'd love to have him, but let's not pretend Ottawa's picks and ours are the same, we'd probably be shipping out 2x1st + a lot more, and then when we lose people would be complaining again.

The Shanaplan hasn't worked.

It was reported there was mutual interest with the Leafs and Ducks regarding Lindholm, but apparantly Anaheim was asking 1 pick too many. They had every reason they needed to keep Muzzin LTIR'd and Lindholm would have fit perfectly in the cap.

Can't believe they let that one slip through the cracks.
He needed to keep those picks to eventually use to fix one of his many mistakes

Welp, I can now say I'd be happy if this Leafs team went to Sweden and never returned.

Gawd awful at every position. Overpaid core 4 that can't play a 60 minute game and DOMINATE the way their salaries indicate they should.

Our Leafs were outworked and outclassed in their own zone tonight. They were a bit better in the offensive zone, but there simply wasn't enough finish.

My wife said to me this in the 3rd period... 'So what our Leafs have 3 10M+ players, they still aren't winning enough games.'

I was born in Montreal and have lived in Ottawa all but for a few months. I'm 68 years old and I fear I will never see another Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley cup championship. If I knew at 12 years old that 1967 Stanley Cup would be my last, I would have found a way to celebrate a lot harder.

I absolutely HATE losing to the Sens and the Habs. I have taken a lifetime of abuse for being a Leafs fan here in Ottawa. When is enough, enough ???

This sad old man is going to bed very disappointed once again tonight !!! :(

When will the Leafs get some good goaltending? Have the Leafs had a really good/great goalie in recent memory that could play consistently well? Also do we not have anyone else from the Marlies that we could try out on defense? They can't be any worse than what we're using now right?

That failed every dam year in the playoffs, that’s not a top tier team.

It's absolutely insane how many people actually thought klingberg was going to be anything but terrible.
Guy is washed up trash.
Knew that from a mile away

Anderson before we mind f***ed him

Remember the 2020 season with Tyson Barrie? They were a botherline wildcard bubble team that year and later ended up losing to CBJ in 5 games.

This team is giving me the similar vibe.

I remember not wanting that season to restart cause that team only disappointed. Very much like this but I dont feel as mad now.

How they are and have been playing takes all the pressure off as far as fans expectations go.

We lived through Horachek, and came out the other side just fine.

Keefe even with his extension won't last the season unless this team turns it around.

They really are garbage defensively. That isn't an exaggeration.

You'd have to also think if they were missing blueliners and dressing Marlies they'd at least try to simplify back there but seems like they have 6 guys ice dancing on the blueline doing Lidstrom to Rafalski impressions.
