It's crazy to me that defensemen like Hampus Lindholm, Mattias Ekholm were made available, exchanged hands and the Leafs didn't bother with the upgrade while they had declining assets like Muzzin and Brodie on the books. At the time I said we needed a succession plan on both those guys, vigilantly monitor their decline. Yet we still used up all our futures on random stuff. Blah.

We were like addicts spending money for a quick hit. I wish we did more trades during the dubas era like the McCabe one. Might not 100% work out but we bought a solid player at a massive discount.

I really want to know what our scouts do. We have a massive budget and no one could figure out muzzin and Brodie were on the decline and it might be a good time to sell high?

Yup Rielly is a top pairing guy, with a steady defencemen beside him

Brodie is a good pk guy on the bottom pair

Everyone else left is ASS. McCabe and Liljegren maybe in the same role as Brodie when healthy.

We can’t fix this defence over the course of the season. If we make a move for a defencemen, it needs to be one with at least 2 years or more.

The defenseman we acquire would need to be a franchise pillar type guy who is young enough you can invest 4-5 years in at the least like when they brought Brodie in. We can't replace 3-4 guys on the blueline every year.

Team is missing their 3 and 4 D and it’s really showing. Too many minutes going to Gio, Brodie, and Klingberg and you get this nightmare scenario. Team needs a top 4 D as Lily isn’t back for months. Probably need a goalie too though unfortunately.

A contending team can’t be counting on Lily and Timmins to turn the ship around

It was reported there was mutual interest with the Leafs and Ducks regarding Lindholm, but apparantly Anaheim was asking 1 pick too many. They had every reason they needed to keep Muzzin LTIR'd and Lindholm would have fit perfectly in the cap.

Can't believe they let that one slip through the cracks.

Offensively talented for sure, but no semblance of defence or goaltending


Andersen fell apart 30 games in, we had muzzin and Rielly miss time, but we were playing Cody f***ing Ceci top pairing. Barrie dermott were not good, Marty marincin played games…

This year, woll Samsonov suck, Liljegren and McCabe injured, playing giordanos corpse in the top 4. Klingberg is useless. Benoit and lagesson are gonna play many games here
