I never worry about poor stretches of play because the season always has it's ups and downs.

This year it is different as it is worrisome the Leafs are so poor at home.

It would be difficult to ask the top 2 lines to produce more and too often it is not enough.

BT has some tough decisions ahead on how to shore up overall team D.

McCabe and Lily returning and hopefully Timmins should help quite a bit, but they still were giving up 4 or 5 with them in tje lineup

Absolutely. The issue isn't the guys carrying the water, they're earning every penny. It's klingberg, bertuzzi, domi, reaves and samsonov contributing little to nothing positive. Need to cut bait on klingberg, bertuzzi and reaves immediately.

How is that working out for us. Maybe if one of the 4 was a quality goalie and a number 1 Dman but 4 soft forwards nope. We have seen the resukts of that the last 5 years

It's crazy to me that defensemen like Hampus Lindholm, Mattias Ekholm were made available, exchanged hands and the Leafs didn't bother with the upgrade while they had declining assets like Muzzin and Brodie on the books. At the time I said we needed a succession plan on both those guys, vigilantly monitor their decline. Yet we still used up all our futures on random stuff. Blah.

This team can’t defend. Klingberg is the single worst defensive player I’ve seen play on this team in a long time. The guy is straight cheeks anywhere that isn’t in the offensive zone. Samsonov and Will need to get their shit together. Woll started out good and has been really leaky the last 2 weeks. Samsonov has been bad all season.

Losing to Calgary with kadri getting 2 goals
Losing to Vancouver with Demko “goalieing” us

Then by trade deadline we will make a move like grab Zadorov which we should’ve done yesterday

We need to try and cut bait with klingberg instantly, see what domi and bertuzzi have to offer in a dozen games then see what their ask is then make a decision

Talk with nylander and either sign him or deal him. You can’t own rental in general, but you really can’t own rental into a non-playoff spot

Complete tear down and start again.

Keep Matthews, Nylander, Knies and Rielly. Everyone else can be shipped. Race the Sharks to the bottom. Get more picks. Don't trade down. Draft some guys who aren't 5'9 wingers. Preferably stick to Canadian, US and Swedish players.

Fire the whole management team. In the interim until the end of the year, the fans vote on the decisions to be made.

Build this thing properly. Don't jump the gun and sign an 11mil guy to play 2nd line centre when you are still lacking in other areas.

Take goaltending seriously.

Team is missing their 3 and 4 D and it’s really showing. Too many minutes going to Gio, Brodie, and Klingberg and you get this nightmare scenario. Team needs a top 4 D as Lily isn’t back for months. Probably need a goalie too though unfortunately.

McCabe was supposed to be the muzzin replacement. He can’t play even 50% of the offence and his defence is inconsistent at best. I think we overpaid for a bottom pairing dman

Yup Rielly is a top pairing guy, with a steady defencemen beside him

Brodie is a good pk guy on the bottom pair

Everyone else left is ASS. McCabe and Liljegren maybe in the same role as Brodie when healthy.

We can’t fix this defence over the course of the season. If we make a move for a defencemen, it needs to be one with at least 2 years or more.
