Not a bad worst case scenario. Though one of those top 3 would be...

I completely agree with you Zombo, this is for a theoretical if we fall to 6 and have to decide between Juolevi, Tkachuk and Sergachyov. Who would you guys take out of those 3 in order?

Still the U18's and OHL playoffs for players in the 6-10 to separate themselves.

worry about who to take at 6 if we actually get the misfortune of dropping down that far. Rankings could change with a good playoffs (Juolevi, Tkachuk) or good U18's (McLeod, Bean, Serg, etc).

Yeah.

I know pretty much nothing about Dubois, but it just seems like forwards who put up those kinds of numbers in the Q so often disappoint.

forwards drafted out of the Q with Top 10 picks have been pretty good lately. I can't think of many busts. Most of them turn into Top 6 forwards.

Dubois meets the eye test and he seems to perform well in the analytics department. If he were to bust it would likely be because of injuries or just random bad luck.

So in 3 saturdays from now we'll most likely all be very disappointed but maybe just maybe.. It'll be a success!

Whichever one is available at 5, take them and run. Simple as that.

That is all I want. Sadly we still can't lie easy knowing that anything could happen. All I want is one of those five, please hockey gods make sure our GM doesn't do something catastrophically stupid.

I don't want to be all negative, but I don't think people should have their hearts set on a top-3 pick. There is a pretty decent chance really that we end up picking 5th. Who should we be targeting in that scenario?

Only Toronto and Edmonton have a higher chance than us at picking in the top 3.

Drafting from the Q scares me

I agree in most cases, especially defensemen, but the top forward available from the Q each year is usually pretty good. Also Dubois isn't just some skilled boom or bust prospect. He's big and has a mean streak.

I'm really happy with the finish. Now I just hope the lottery balls will fall our way. If the Canucks get the 1st overall pick, this season couldn't have ended any better.
