I'm all for moving Strome down to third line.
The reality of the matter is that GG will not change the top 6.
I mean, from that perspective, you're right.

Once something works once, the Rangers wait YEARS to break it up.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich was a bad line longer than it was a good line. All three players are having career years away from that line.

I’ll take either. Probably prefer Washington.

They actually get called for shit and they suck.
yep playing the Pens and the refs may be tougher but watching both teams right now the Caps definitely have their shit together way more than the Pens. I'm hoping those old legs from both of those teams plus not so great goaltending will be a big factor.

This should be the group to start the playoffs

Kreider-Mika-Vatrano
Panarin-Strome-Copp
Lafreniere-Goodrow-Motte
Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

Extras:
Kakko
Chytil
Gauthier
Brodzinski
McKegg
Blais (hopefully)

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Braun-Schneider

Extras:
Nemeth
Hajek

Shesterkin
Georgiev

Chytil can barely handle NHL pace and physicality. I can’t imagine him suddenly switching his gear in the playoffs. He doesn’t have the mentality or game right now to be effective

Kakko is just so meh nowadays. His defensive game has completely disappeared this season as well. Despite him being one of my favorite players I don’t think he should be in our playoff lineup. And I’m someone who thinks he was our best forward last time around. He’s just not a useful NHL player right now. Doesn’t create/forecheck/score/hit and isn’t standout defensively anymore. Just likes to spin around in corners whenever he’s lucky enough to touch the puck in the offensive zone
Motte is out... Shoulder or Collarbone... Neither of those heal quickly

Rangers best line based on CF% was line 3 BY FAR. The whiners on here are ridiculous.
I missed the first period because of work but are you saying the best line was our third line? The Laf-Goodrow-Kakko line?

With average goaltending from a guy that's supposed to be a Vezina frontrunner we're at least in overtime. The Canes aren't anything special.
Respectfully calling bullshit on "cane's aren't anything special" - they're 48-18-8 and third overall in the league with a handful of games left. Shesty is also even on GAA with Andersen at 2.07 and #1 on S% with .935. He might have had a bad day in the office but so did a lot of others today. I'm keeping upbeat and staying positive.

It wasn't our best line. It couldn't be our best line. It played like 11 minutes.

The complaining is so outsized compared to the roles with these players. It's worse than Tanner Glass because at least Tanner Glass actually sucked hard in his 9-12 mins a game.

I hope we trade both of them on the off-chance this board becomes readable again afterwards.

Daily reminder that Nils Lundkvist won a poll convincingly over K’Andre Miller this past offseason
There was a very vocal group demanding KAM be put in the AHL throughout the first 25 games or so this season, too. And the same folks are now asking for Kaapo to be put in the AHL... :banghead:

We played a good first period, but we let up and Carolina wanted it more than us the last 2 periods. They finished every check and were all over the puck. Look at how Staal just pushed Hunt down like a sack of potatoes.

Happy for CK. What a season!

That third period was a highlight reel of why Strome must not be re-signed. In just one period, he passed it directly to Carolina from in front of our crease for a good scoring chance. He had at least 4 careless turnovers that I saw. Got outplayed on the boards. Got rag-dolled in front of our crease trying to defend his man. Missed a great scoring chance. Took a penalty on the power play. Got knocked down or lost his balance a few times. Oh yeah, but he has great chemistry with Panarin. Other than that, he's useless.

I'm cool with that. So you're saying he will put up a ppg in the playoffs leading us to stanley cup?!
Not on that line but on a line that works, I could totally see Kakko going off in the playoffs.

He's Jesper Fast if Fast had incredible hands.

Same.

Panarin-Copp-Vatrano would make teams forfeit.

Our lines could really be better. I know everyone loves 20-93-77 but 20-93-13 is one of the best lines to exist in the NHL this year.

We hurt the bottom six to switch to an equally good top line.
You had Lafreniere playing at a point per game pace with Kreider and Zib.

Vatrano seems like a natural fit opposite Panarin.

That third line is a mish mosh, but I guess Kakko would cover up a bit for Strome's mistakes?

Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration on my part. But I don't think they're significantly better than the Rangers. The Rangers were dominating them until they gave up that garbage goal. And it was like they exerted themselves so much to play a close to flawless game that that goal completely deflated them. This performance from Shesterkin is as bad as I can remember from a goalie in a critical non-playoff game.
