Reaction from some posters was pretty warm. Their read is that Brandt isn't going to get any time under Hillier and Blake, and Boeser is a scorer that isn't atrocious defensively and can at least initiate contact, and L.A.'s game isn't built solely around speed.
Hey man, I’d take the trade in a nanosecond. I just don’t think we could pull that off.

Wingers are the easiest in the league to replace. Not saying it would be easy to replace Boeser, just saying if they can someone add a young prospect/pick for him, they could replace him easier then an RHD or Centre.

I just don't see Boeser as a play driver. He doesn't create. He finishes for sure, but doesn't drive play. He relied on Miller a lot. He making 6.65? Right now, or close to. Cap has gone up, he's likely asking for 8.5+. Can this team really afford to pay that for a complimentary player?

I would try and get a 1st for Boeser and flip him like they did for Hronek. I would be trying to get a young centre.

Need to make a move soon, 5 games left before the TDL.

I was surprised I didn't get called a troll and thread banned, although more recent posts in some of those threads are getting more hostile. I managed to avoid upsetting anyone so far though.
Also Blake is a dumbass who traded Vilardi + for Dubois.
Yes, also the dumbass thing.

I think we absolutely could pay a complimentary winger 8.5. The problem is we have no one for him to compliment, and DeBrusk is outscoring him at 5.5.

I don’t know why people are getting so annoyed about people making proposals of Boeser to the Wild. Their own board was talking about him as target more in free agency than at the trade deadline but still. Yeah were some unrealistic yes but half of the proposed deals on here are. I saw a ton of proposals of Boeser to Columbus which made little to no sense, at least the Wild are in a playoff spot and need right handed shot for their power play.

I dont think the future is as grim as it appears atm, but the team definitely needs to reset a bit,
this season is a wash in my books anyways.

Some players (e.g. Boeser) doesnt fit into the future window so might as well sell them now if the returns are reasonable.

TDL is imminent, we can potentially gain quite a bit of assets if things playout right and flip it in the off-season for something more substantial.

Lots of room for improvement in the future, with the rising cap, expiring contracts, potential UFA signings, etc.

Let Hughes/Pettersson/Demko(tbh i think his days are numbered) rest for now.

But having being a fan of this team for over a decade,
blueberry boi is gonna rush shit so hard, the team is gonna be right in 15O/A for the next 5 years with no future.

I'm not sure we could get a 1st for Boeser at this point..he looked awful again tonight.

Not sure about any of our stars not named Hughes right now. Boeser, Pettersson and Demko are all question marks. One looks like a trade would be best for him. The other looks broken, and the other looks like his career may be in jeopardy.

Lucky the Canucks will have a boat load of cap space. Or else the future would look bleak. Cap space in pretty much the most valuable asset you could have in today's NHL.

This season is pretty much a writeoff. Hopefully Allvin figures out a plan and has some sort of direction with this mixed up team. The defense is good, goaltending is okay. Just need to bring in some scoring.

I have hope with all of the cap space, but Allvin needs to pull some tricks out of his sleeve because this season compared to last, has been subpar. Everything went right last season, the team, trades and success. This year has been a disaster.

With Sherwood getting the single season hit record, this is the perfect storm to start dangling him in front of GMs before the deadline. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you could pull a 1st.

Boeser
Garland
Sherwood
Debrusk
Soucy

Should all be shopped hard in these next two weeks.

At that point, we might as well shop Hughes too. He's gone the moment management ever considers doing something like this. Not to mention, while Sherwood has been fantastic, there's no shot he brings back a 1st.

They didn't just re-sign Marcus and Lankinen to punt half the roster and rebuild.

Cant believe it was less than a year ago we were the 5th best team to exit the playoffs and 1 game away from defeating the Western Champs.

I think this is proof Canucks need to act fast and maximize Hughes' value. Trade Boeser for assets and use that to build a top line.

Chytil is a 2C or 3C on a contender today. But if he's your 1C, you're toast! life moves fast doesnt it.

That’s not a rebuild. Rebuilding teams don’t have a top 3 defence group like the Canucks will within 2 years.

If played correctly:

XXX - Pettersson - Lekkerimaki
Hoglander - Chytil - XXX
Joshua - Frondell/Desnoyers - XXX
Sasson - Raty - XXX

Hughes - Willander
DPetey - Hronek
MPetey - Myers/Mancini

Demko
Lankinen
Silovs

Fill the rest of the roster with the assets we get via trades and the boatload of capspace.

First and foremost, you are relying on two rookies with minimal to zero NHL experience to suddenly be top line threats. That just isn't going to happen barring an absurd amount of luck.

Second, having a lot of cap space doesn't mean anything unless there are players willing to sign here that are good enough to warrant big paydays. The only two actual game breakers on the FA market are Marner and Rantanen, both of whom are likely demanding 13-14M.

Even with one of them, that roster is... lacking imo. Regardless, shipping out almost every UFA you've signed within the last two years is a great way to ensure many of them won't want to sign with you anymore.

Finally, some of the players you want to move won't be so easily replaced. 5.5M for DeBrusk is bordering on an underpayment with how much the cap's rising.

And all of this assumes you'll even get good assets back for the players listed.

DeBrusk - 2nd + medium level prospect
Garland - 2nd (if that, seeing as we couldn't give him away a year ago)
Sherwood - 2nd (maybe)
Boeser - 1st and good but not great prospect
Soucy - 3rd if you're lucky

Outside Boeser, none of that is letting you fill a roster that lacks any top six scoring threat and two inconsistent centers as of right now. If I'm Hughes, there's no chance I'd even consider re-signing if management did this. Not when I'd have the pick of the NHL to sign with in a year's time.
