GDT: Philadelphia Flyers 3, Los Angeles Kings 2 (Final - OT)

I believe they have to play one full game with a man short before they qualify for an emergency call-up. If Kopi returns next game, we're back to full-strength. If he doesn't, Weal will probably get to play his first regular season NHL game on Thursday.

Good that he feels good but that decision is not his and why risk that vs. a physical team like the FLyers when he could benefit from a few more days off.
Lewis also said he's ready to play but he hasn't been given the seal of approval yet.
It just means instead of the 4 lines playing almost even min. like Sutter prefers, the top 3 will get a couple more and the 4th will see limited with an alternating forward.

This but it also come with another benefit using the emergency recall. You can spend 100K more than the min salary and it doesn't count against the cap.

You must be confusing this years team with last years. The Flyers are not nearly as physical.
towards the bottom of the league in penalties too, very different than Flyers of the past.

I live in Philly and have seen every game more or less for 40 years, and they aren't shying away, esp with Rinaldo in the lineup. They are still a team that is physical, and that remains a part of there persona. Less hits, maybe, but not hitting,no, esp vs a team like the Kings.
 
Well, Kopi could play tonight 4th line duties without penalty killing and limited PP (or no PP at all). Would help a lot to the team and probably wouldn't harm to much to Kopi.

I think we'd be better off if he didn't dress so we qualify for the emergency relief going forward.

At least tonight is not part of a back to back. We don't want to skate shorthanded on Thursday so sit Kopi so worst case scenario is we have Weal come in and we have 12 skaters for Thursday or Friday. Best case scenario is Kopi plays Thursday and/or Friday.

Yeah - player is suspended, not playing, and still counts against the cap. Brilliant, NHL.

If he did play, I would only play him on the power play. Less chance of him getting hit. Let someone double shift for his spot on the 4th line.

Lewis is just about ready, told Sutter he wants to play. So I think its likely that both Lewis and Kopitar are in the lineup Thursday and the emergency call-up issue is a moot point.

That's probably likely, though I'll be a bit disappointed for Weal not to get a game.

Boy, that is some detailed GDT the Flyers have. Birthplaces, video, history going back decades...
 
wow you people must be board to be commenting on bernstien He was only asked his opinion and answered it.What is wrong with that? I don't agree with his opinion but to call the guy out for answering a question seem s a bit much .

I actually think this might be some gamesmanship by the Kings. Even if they don't play down a man tonight making the league think it very easily could have happened. Just to try and force the issue on Voynov with the league. Trying to force both a timetable and relief at the same time.

Meh. If he want's to enhance his credibility as a LA Kings "source" , insider, expert, or go-to guy for information and analysis, then he needs to be right more often.

If all he wants to be is a hack internet poster, then mission accomplished.

I still remember his tirade against the Gaborik trade last year. Thinks we should have gotten Vanek. Apparently the subtlety of the salary cap escaped him (we never could have made the trade anyway) and he was proven to be dead wrong in his analysis of Gaborik's production as seen in the playoffs.

It's insane. I have no idea how that guy/gal has all the time to do something like that. I can appreciate all the hard work now, for sure. As you can see, I do it bare-bones, and still it takes up much more time than I thought it would. To do something like that person did...just don't know how it can be done, actually.
