wow you people must be board to be commenting on bernstien He was only asked his opinion and answered it.What is wrong with that? I don't agree with his opinion but to call the guy out for answering a question seem s a bit much .

Uh, he could have just ignored the question. Period.

Meh. If he want's to enhance his credibility as a LA Kings "source" , insider, expert, or go-to guy for information and analysis, then he needs to be right more often.

If all he wants to be is a hack internet poster, then mission accomplished.

I still remember his tirade against the Gaborik trade last year. Thinks we should have gotten Vanek. Apparently the subtlety of the salary cap escaped him (we never could have made the trade anyway) and he was proven to be dead wrong in his analysis of Gaborik's production as seen in the playoffs.

I totally agree with what your saying However to attack the guy cause he answered a question the way he sees it is going to far to me. I think people should attack the post not the person but that just me

It doesn't help that Bernstein comes off as condescending and arrogant. It'd be one thing if he were right more often. That isn't the case. So he comes across as an uninformed blowhard.

I don't think people really care that he said what he said. Heck, the Mayor (mayors manor) said something similar on one of his interviews. Its just that Bernstein presents himself as some authority figure when he's clearly not.

The Mayor does the exact same thing though. Remember him telling us that JDub is going to be traded every deadline

Pretty much, this. He comes across as an ass half the time. And if you're going that route, you better have enough cache built with actual correct info to back it up.

Even if we entertain the idea that Voynov could be traded, his stock would be pretty dang low right now because of this incident. DL isn't about gifting players to other teams.

oh i agree he can be very arrogent however if your looking for some sorta inside info there isn't many you can get to answer Him the mayor and matt berry are the only 3 you really can ask and get response to your question

Per Lisa Dillman, L.A. Times article:

“I’m more mad at myself I didn’t take more time, and didn’t do a better job,” Lombardi said. “The penalty now is now not only losing the player … your team now pays the price.”

“The bottom line after talking about this for 48 hours: This is our fault. I told my owner. We have train them strength-wise, nutrition-wise. Basically we almost need a morals coach. It’s not media training.

“It’s my responsibility. This won’t happen again. Or it won’t be because we didn’t do a better job training them in strength, nutrition and development. This clearly sends a message you have a job to train your players as far as conduct away from the rink.

“The price is steep. It’s fine. I’ve learned my lesson.”

raise your hand if you are going to score tonight!

Update from Lisa Dillman, still 1 man down.

Lisa dillman @reallisa · 43m 43 minutes ago

Kings will be one player short against Flyers on Tuesday night (And more from Lombardi) http://fw.to/QUixy9I

and

More Voynov. Redondo Beach PD's Joe Hoffman said that he did not expect anything new on its end this week.

I wonder if the NHL will relent and lift the suspension? I have my doubts ...

I understand his being pissed at Slava and the position it put the team in, but these guys are not 14 year old high school jocks. They're adults and know right from wrong. He shouldn't have to 'train' them in morals issues. If Slava lost his temper and whatever happened resulted in that injury, that's not DL's responsiblity.

Just DL saying the right things imo. We don't really know what happened so its' tough to even speculate but it could be something as simple as a cultural training.

I don't blame DL, but I appreciate the tenacity and trying to prepare the players for everything

Yup. The NFL invests a TON into off the field programs and we see how that's played out with their players. People do dumb things, there's only so much DL can do.

I think he is talking about the increased scrutiny they receive and the fact they must abstain from the appearance of any wrong doing. And that is where education comes into play.

I think Dean was laying it on pretty thick there, trying to tell the NHL that they are full of crap with their decision to continue to count Voynov's pay against the cap in this situation.

I agree but he is being a tad political by saying the organization needing to take responsibility to educate blah blah blah.

It's a shot at the way they are handling this. It's rapidly approaching gong show levels on all fronts.

That's the ONLY logical explanation behind those comments. Taken at face value, they're fairly bizarre. Does Dean really think this is a morality/character issue? At face value, he's condemning himself and Voynov for being morally deficient.

That doesn't make sense. I'm with you on this. It's basically Dean sarcastically inferring that this suspension is absurd without outright saying it and possibly facing a fine. "Yeah, should've invested in a morals coach." That TOTALLY sounds like a backhanded comment directed at the league now that you've said it.

Good for you, Dean. These knee jerk pinheads in the league's front office don't know up from down half the time. Let em have it.

Dean Lombardi is being sarcastic without putting his team or values at risk.

That was a total backhanded comment at the league. Morals coach....That's absurd.

And, as I posted on the main board thread, what about Varlamov? He's getting off NHL-punishment-free despite a civil case. This is all BS. Grr.

Anyway, back to the game. Quick/Jones at forward? :sarcasm:
