Like Foxy said, it was more Quick's own momentum than the contact. I'd be more mad at the turnover than the call.

I'm ok with the OT goal but it's pretty obvious Schenn made contact with him. Draw your own conclusions whether the contact of Schenn was > or < to Quick's momentum. dgaf #Physics

Doughty was poor
Muzzin was poor (but playing hurt)
Voynov is sitting on the couch
Greene had a brainfart that lead to a goal
Regehr is up and down
McNabb as expected is erratic

Defense is not getting it done

The Kings desperately miss Willie Mitchell. Greene and RR will take the body, but they don't make the outlet pass that Mitchell could and they are exploited by quicker players. And neither guy has that calming influence that WM had when he was on the ice.

Defense will be fine assuming Slava returns, but right now the more skilled teams are going to give the Kings some issues.

Do we even know what the on-ice call was? I bet they'll just say they thought the puck didn't cross the line because that's the only way to CYA.

Doughty gets lazy with big minutes.
Muzzin was clearly rushed back.
Greene obviously can't handle those minutes either, brainfarts left and right.
Regehr I thought was fine, but you can tell he was just trying to get the puck away from him
McNabb...yeah, we'll go with erratic.

Seriously, playing 3 lines, missing Kopitar/Gaborik/Lewis/Voynov and on the road with guys only recently back from injury and against opponents who are gunning for the champs...I'll take the point.

There was contact, so I don't think Quick is mad without reason, but when he watches video, I think he'll know he was going to give it up anyway because he was sliding backwards before Schenn makes contact.

this ^^^^

Quick totally misplayed it. Schenn was coming in with a full head of steam, there was no way he had the time or room to make a move. All Quick had to do was be aggressive and charge Schenn for a pokecheck. Or even stand up with his stick on the ice... But he chose to back into the net on his own. Sure he got tapped a bit by Schenn's skate, but no enough to matter.

Quick couldn't have played it any worse.

He needs to realize (immediately) what a shooter's options are and adjust his play accordingly. - not back into the goal.

Watch how Quick's momentum changes....The speed at which it changes, when Schenn pushes both stick and skate into him. He would not have gone back onto the net.

I would hope that if the Sens are unable to come to turns with Marc Methot that he could be a good trade deadline acquisition for the Kings.

Yup, that is exactly the reason it was allowed.

The NHL changed the rules for common sense to prevail, and common sense can see the puck was going in regardless. Tough loss but happy to get a point on the road, especially trailing after 2.

Is the video review team allowed to make that judgement call to overturn an on-ice ruling?

That's basically what they said--they thought it was covered and then B. Schenn pushed Quick into the net.

I don't know what replays the LA feed showed, but it was pretty obvious from the Flyers end that 1) B. Schenn made contact with Quick's pad, and 2) Quick was sliding backwards into the net with or without that contact.

Like I said, I thought it should count, but I wouldn't have been surprised if it didn't.

IINM, the on-ice call was no goal due to contact with the goalie. On review, they concluded the puck was already over the line before contact was made.

original call was no goal then overturned as a good goal on ice with all officials huddling. then toronto bs blah blah blah.. we lose.

He turns slightly, but he doesn't accelerate when Schenn makes contact. Now, what does kind of bother me is that the call on the ice was no goal. So what was the overwhelming clear evidence as to how they overturned it? We're still debating the actual play.

Frankly, that breakaway just cannot be allowed by the Kings.

Perfect NHL logic, basing a decision off an assumption, you are probably right.
