OT: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): Don't Cry Because It's Over, Smile Because it Happened (Offseason - 2023)

As a longhorn fan, I can attest Robinson is the real deal (much better than Elliott), but it would only make sense if you're going to give him 300+ touches as a runner and receiver. But he is a complete back.

He could run for 2000 yards behind this OL.

I could also see the Eagles looking at his backup in the 2nd rd, converted QB who's a Keith Byars type (for you Dinos). Big, athletic, good hands, can block, good runner but tall, so he's going to struggle with a high center of gravity.

My baby boy wants to go RB over EDGE at 10

I should've spanked him as a child

Who was the last R1 RB to put a team they were drafted on over the edge for a title?

I think it is a different situation here though where the Eagles are coming off of a SB without any glaring holes (or glaring options to fill any holes). If their only pick was #10 or they had #10 because they EARNED #10, then yeah I wouldn't do it the value isn't there. But if you have a first rounder and the difference in talent for most of this draft isn't really that different from 10 to 30 I'm fine taking him. I'd prefer to try and move back to like 15 or so and pick up some picks and still probably get him, but if Gonzalez or Witherspoon aren't there taking Robinson at 10 over an edge rusher makes sense when you can almost certainly get an edge rusher at 30 who is on the same level as whomever was there at 10. If Gonzalez or Witherspoon are there I'd take either one over Robinson and hope he's there at 30. If neither are there, unless for some reason Anderson falls, I would trade back somewhere around 15 and presumably Robinson will still be there. Then take the best Edge/OL/DB available at 30, possibly even trading back again depending on how things shake out.

Right this minute I could wander out of my office building, throw a rock in a random direction, and hit a future NFL RB who would then rip me in half and suck out my juices to enhance his power. Imagine wanting to burn a 10th on an RB.

Havent you people bled a shitload of D talent so far this offseason? Is this guy touched in the head?

I'm not the guru @JojoTheWhale is on these kinds of things, and I really didn't watch much of any college football this past year, but I just took a look at a few Bijan Robinson highlight reels. This is what I saw:

The kid is built solidly, with a great, low center of gravity. Can't see him being easily arm-tackled and would seem to have the edge over being targeted at the legs. Doesn't avoid contact if necessary. Reminded me a bit like Stump Mitchell in that respect. Shifty. Saw a number of runs where he goes from shifty to bruising then back to shifty on the same play. On his inside runs, it reminded me of a slippery student quickly slithering through a crowded bar to get to the bathroom in a hurry - a slide, a weave, a break for daylight. Has some East-West at the line, but is more North-South. Should be very successful behind a good OL. Didn't really see the second-gear speed or explosiveness I was thinking I would see. He's not slow, but I saw plenty of runs where, if it was an NFL defender in pursuit, I think he would have been wrapped up sooner. Some runs extended by stumbling and colliding opposing teammates taking bad angles. Looks good at both inside and outside running, but did not see the quick turns on the outside in these highlights. He does angle up well once the turn has been made. Made some impressive turning, twisting catches. Liked that he runs with controlled emotion as I did not see much of any "Check me out, yo!" moments after scores or long gains. Didn't get to see his pass blocking. I could see second-half of the first round, but any higher than that is a bit too high for my tastes.

Some folks in Philly are taking stupid pills.

I'm convinced Eagles fans want Bijan because they think he's the last piece of a super offense, and that we'd be screwing the Cowboys. That's about it.

Really, we'd just be screwing ourselves. Look at who is still on the market and you tell me if you wouldn't sign them vs. burning #10 on a RB

Leonard Fournette
Kareem Hunt
Zeke Elliott

1. I don't want to draft Bijan at 10.

2. This is all my fault.

I personally wouldn't want Zeke, but it would piss off a lot of Dallas fans and at this point In Howie I Trust, so if the team wants to bring him on board, sure.... why the heck not

I mean if he is willing to play on a 1 yr 1.5m-2m deal (BoSco money basically), it would be worth it just to stick it to the Cowboys and to stop the Bijan at #10 madness that has been spreading a bit around the fanbase.

Short yardage situations + pass blocking is what you would bring him in for. And also as additional depth for the somewhat inevitable Penny injury problems.

Also bringing in a Kelce replacement each offseason has become a tradition and Zeke showed major promise in that regard in the playoffs. :sarcasm:

Dang they caught me

Were you recently trying to sell a home fitness invention? If so, was it a shake weight?

Ken Francis is a Florida man who most recently was pitching a home fitness invention, I’m told. He now is trying to negotiate a nine-figure contract with NFL teams, who are being told they’re not allowed to negotiate with him because he’s not a certified agent.
