In nearly no circumstance is taking a WR with our first pic something that should happen. Team needs to hit on defensive starters. DT, DE, CB.

I’d be amenable to a guard in the second if it’s a stud who is universally considered capable of starting day 1, otherwise I’d rather target one in round 3 or 4 with expectation stoutland can coach him up.

Will always advocate for BPA within reason, but team should prioritize defense with the first 3-4 selections, except for a potential starting guard. Slot WR, RB, TE in middle rounds

I think we can all reasonably disagree on basically everything when it comes to the draft. Want a WR, don’t, whatever. It’s easy to understand the angle of attack even if you fall on the other side.

But the combination of a Guard would be ok and a WR wouldn’t isn’t a combo of takes that makes sense. You’re talking about the most valuable non-QB/Kicker position and the least. I can understand every step of the thought process, but sometimes that leads you to a conclusion that can't be right.

In Howie we trust. I don't expect draft picks to start at rookies, I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
At best, add some solid depth that might be ready to start by December.

However, Howie is never finished adding players, look for him to pounce on players cut b/c some team slots in a rookie and wants to save cap room - like last summer.
