OT: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): Don't Cry Because It's Over, Smile Because it Happened (Offseason - 2023)

I mean ..be real right? It's not like Slay isn't still a good corner, we are just talking about at what price? (Aside from being priced out of CJGJ now...I'm assuming). I could care less about Slay, but just saying, he's still good back there.

Assuming Nakobe Dean can be anything at LB, the defense is looking better than we thought 3 weeks back? I can't believe we have done as well as we have.

Blame Thatcher Venmo and my need to beat Chinatown once.

I also didn’t tag you so maybe you should thank him?
I got distracted with a video call trying to bribe my cousin's kid into learning her multiplication tables in exchange for 1 Make It Mini Food Diner capsule mystery toy thing.

Literally figured out 4 x 15 on her own, it was the second problem. It popped up again and somehow she came up with 47 even though she literally did it and I had to tell her that she did it right all by herself before. Kids amuse me.

He's still good. For me, it's just that both are here for multiple years now and this probably takes Corner off the board early.

They're probably loading up for one more year before the Hurts contract kicks in. I get it. It makes sense. They're just going to have to get an awful lot of things right in a short period of time.

If they take Nolan Smith at 10, I'm not complaining at all. I just thought they were in CB position for once.

I just hope the new DC got to study film from last year before Howie signed these two.
You would like his input on whether they have enough left in the tank to be a good fit in his scheme.

At this point, I'm going to trust them to make good decisions. Overall, they have earned that mostly.

I'm having a REAL hard time staying at 10. Here is to hoping that QB and OT runs go off like usual, and some DLs drop in the teens. Another 3rd rounder would be nice.

Let's be real. If the defensive line isn't getting it done, it's going to be a long day.

Considering the current state of the NFC I really can't fault them for it. Give it another go this year, commit to building around Hurts' contract next year.

Does anyone know yet for sure that this takes them out of the running for CJGJ? If it does, it seems odd that they prioritized Slay over keeping CJGJ.

I’m guessing this also means the draft will be a re-load on the OL and DL instead of the secondary.

Well, we already HAD Slay, and basically restructured him to free up room. I think we chose Bradbury, who is probably going to be cheaper as a contract that CJGJ. That Bates to ATL is like a 20m per year. I doubt we can get near that.

That said, the NFL cap is crazy, and a lot of the money is shell games around, so anything is possible. The flowchart for where all the $$ is must be a sight.

I like CGJG but his interceptions came early, and he's a bit like that CB on Dallas, more opportunistic than fundamentally sound.

Worth paying, but not overpaying.

Don't know if Williams has the smarts for S, but he has the build and speed for FS in a single high, 6'2, ran a 4.37 at the combine.

Well, he's a better fit as a backup to Hurts than Minshew.
He's got the athleticism to run the same scheme, though I really wish they'd cut back on the run options or have Hurts pass more and run less out of them.
Teams are keying on Hurts and getting good licks, he's safer scrambling from the pocket where its harder to line him up for hits.
