Patrice Bergeron was teammates with Glen Murray for not only one or two, but four seasons!? This made me realize how much time has passed and now I feel old seeing him retire.

Hats off to a great career. Great role model too. The game will miss him.

The only Bruin who I admired after defeating my Canucks in the 2011 Stanley Cup final. Bergeron is a true class act, a warrior on the ice, and one of the best two way forwards to play the game in a very long time.

I hope he enjoys his retirement, Bergeron had a heck of a career.

Respect

Right?

He was on the team when the 700lb Line was a thing.

He was technically also a teammate of PJ Stock (Stock played 1 game in Boston in 2003-04)

Retiring as the reigning Selke winner is crazy to me. I am not saying he shouldn't retire, just that it is awesome that he is able to retire still being the best 2-way player in the league.
I came here to say this. At his age with how fast and hard the game is today, it's just nothing short of brilliant what's he's been able to do... Let's consider the fact his career might have been over early due to concussion after his October 2007 boarding scare against the Flyers. A true warrior of sport he is.

Never the flashiest player but always got the job done against the league's best players year in, year out. A legend of the game moves on and it speaks volumes of his persona and dedication to his craft that every fanbase has nothing but kudos for him. He will walk into the Hall of Fame first ballot no questions asked!

Bergeron is the prototype of what a youth hockey player should aspire to be. Beyond his accolades and successes, this is the most incredible part of his career. Awards are great, and I'm happy for him for those. Winning various tournaments is impressive and incredible. However, when we look back on his career we'll see the most complete player of his generation. We'll see someone that you can point a 10 year old to and say, "Be him". That's incalculable. That's what truly sets him apart.

This from the Bruins next captain...

Congrats on the career, sorry my cousin smashed you head first into the boards like 15 years ago.
If you ever feel inclined, you can tell your cousin I hate him a lot, but also it may have been the spark to create the Bergeron we were privileged enough to watch for the last 15 years. Kind of like Fat Man and Little Boy and the creation of anime.

The first playoff series he played and lost was against Joe Juneau. Insane how much has changed since then lol.
