No it's not at all, wow that's an awful comparison.
It's about balance which is how you build a team, are you new to team sports?

Here’s another way to look at this. Not only will he upgrade what you have but he has one of the best (most team friendly) contracts in the entire league.

So whatever you have on the roster that’s overpaid, they become redundant. Even if you trade over priced players for pennies on the dollar, it hurts a lot less when you have contracts like Girard’s.

I as a fan with no control over anything this team does, am not interested in Girard.

West Vancouver
Do Albertans not realize that we don’t really have snow in the winter here in Vancouver and the weather never goes below 0 celsius ?
Or do they actually all love living in cold 3/4 of the year

Zadina, that dude is so disappointing. I thought he’d be a good player when drafted. He’s so meh.

red wings whiffed on Zadina at 6th OA. But likely hit a homer with Seider in same draft slot a year later.

Nobody forgot. During that time there was serious questions about Mackinnon, and until EP proves himself as a truly elite player like MacK then the skepticism is justified.
Of course skepticism and criticism is justified in EPs case, trust me the whole fan base has been complaining about him. Its the people who are writing him off completely is what I find unjustified, because of different developmental paths. MacKinnon is just one example.

Just a stab in the dark.

Ryan Strome, K'Andre Miller, + Vitaly Kravstov.

Strome has to go back. We would need to send money back and there would be no room for him in the line-up with Zibanejad, Pettersson, and Chytil.

EP is the Canucks version of Nuge. Super impressive Rookie season, then the League figured out he was built like a twig and started leaning on him. It hasn’t been easy for him since his Rookie season, injuries started piling up, confidence dropping. He’ll settle in as a really good player still, but a superstar he is not. You could argue that his value may be higher now than it will be in the future as the rest of the League finally catches up to this assessment.

Geez, Aves fans really derailed this thread. Most of the other offers I saw were at least within the realm of being fair.

Pettersson will rebound and he will be better. I think people on HFboard have memory of goldfish and love kneejerk reactions. Look at what happened to Sam Bennett once Flames gave up on him too soon. Canucks have seen a lot out of Petersson vs. what calgary saw with Bennett so you can rest assured Canucks wont trade Pettersson when he is struggling. That is the definision of selling low. Also you judge a player when they have performed at their best not when they are slumping. Would the Leafs trade Matthews because of a slow start?

The Avs are stacked at every position (according to Avs fans) and yet so far they share the same record as the lowly Canucks! Wow funny!!
They cant even make the finals. They have to go through Vegas and we know Vegas has their number, so does Dallas lol. I doubt Avs will make the finals anytime soon as Blues are getting better too.

Does it make a difference? 74 points isn’t exactly franchise centre number.
Makar has not hit 80 points so he isnt 80 point player. Dont use that pace BS, because its all just assumptions until he hits those numbers.

No one considered MacKinnon a 1C at that point.

Anyways back on topic, the fact is no one is going to give value like he’s a 90 points player currently and if he was performing like one he wouldn’t be getting traded anyways.
You are wrong that no one will value him like he is a 90 point player. GMs arent this shortsighted. Petersson has the potential to hit 90. If that is the logic you are using than Canucks could trade you Poolman for Byram since Byram is no where hitting 30 points in a season because he has not hit 30 points in an NHL season.
