Contender will only be able to offer late first. I doubt Calgary wants another 30rd pick in draft.

Flames own first back will have double the value to Calgary. Be around 12-15. Montreal be high in the bid. Habs have the pick and prospects Calgary looking for. Montreal has big need and nearing end of rebuild.

At this point, if the Habs don't get Andersson, it will be due to the player not being interested in a long term deal. We have the assets to get it done and the need for this type of player.

RHD vets with even 1.5 years of term go for a lot and are almost never on the market. Something you’d think a Sabres fan would be keenly aware of. The return for him will decline with time, unless the market for D changes. But right now he’s worth a fortune

Buffalo needs to be in on a veteran RHD. Maybe an overpay for A.Larsson. But it is a ridiculous oversight by them to have let it go this long. Adams is paralyzed by fear of seeing one of his young Fs blow up on another team and it’s stalled the organization’s growth.

Ok, I disagree here. Willander is still just a prospect, albeit a good one. I value Byram differently, his contract is still unknown. Andersson is rumored to be looking for 9 million in a year and a half. Maybe Byram is thinking a few million less. Helenius may not be an elite prospect, but for me he is an A prospect, he is exactly the kind of center that we do not have at all. This does not mean that he is unavailable, but I see this as an overpayment, we are not even sure that Andersson will not go to UFA after some time, and we will be left with nothing or just sell him at TDL in a year. No thanks.

Yes, we need RDs, but mostly defensive guys, or just complementary guys like Fabbro, such players are often not expensive. Look at how RDs traded this summer or even at the beginning of the season. Marino for a few 2nd (he would have fit us perfectly, but our GM is an idiot). Kovacevic for 4th, Jensen was traded. We could have gotten Fabbro for almost nothing, but then again our GM...

The idea of adding Andersson is tempting, but at a reasonable price. Do you think we are desperate? No, our owner is playing the role of POHO and has publicly stated that the decision is in this room and no trades. Our GM is constantly allegedly involved in some trade rumors, but rarely makes a move to help the team, he does it after the playoffs are over or in the summer, and even then not very significant.
