Contender will only be able to offer late first. I doubt Calgary wants another 30rd pick in draft.

Flames own first back will have double the value to Calgary. Be around 12-15. Montreal be high in the bid. Habs have the pick and prospects Calgary looking for. Montreal has big need and nearing end of rebuild.

At this point, if the Habs don't get Andersson, it will be due to the player not being interested in a long term deal. We have the assets to get it done and the need for this type of player.

RHD vets with even 1.5 years of term go for a lot and are almost never on the market. Something you’d think a Sabres fan would be keenly aware of. Buffalo needs to be in on a veteran RHD. Maybe an overpay for A.Larsson. But it is a ridiculous oversight by them to have let it go this long. Adams is paralyzed by fear of seeing one of his young Fs blow up on another team and it’s stalled the organization’s growth.

Andersson is rumored to be looking for 9 million in a year and a half. Maybe Byram is thinking a few million less. Helenius may not be an elite prospect, but for me he is an A prospect, he is exactly the kind of center that we do not have at all. This does not mean that he is unavailable, but I see this as an overpayment, we are not even sure that Andersson will not go to UFA after some time, and we will be left with nothing or just sell him at TDL in a year. Yeah I don’t think it will be 9 but I could be wrong. Obviously Buffalo won’t sell the farm if they don’t think they can retain him. Byram would be an interesting piece for the Flames as LD is a position of need, though his numbers this year away from Dahlin kind of scare me

Dahlin is too good and makes every defenseman better who plays with him. At first we had a second pair of Power - Byram and it was bad, two left-handed PMDs with questionable defense. Then, when Byram moved to the first pair with Dahlin, they looked mostly good. When Dahlin was absent due to injury, it's not like Byram had a good partner like Weegar or Bahl, he didn't, it was a guy from the AHL and our little #7 - #8D. So overall, I don't know what Byram will be like now without Dahlin, but with a decent partner.

I think a Dahlin - Andersson pairing would be one of the best in the league. But it all depends on cost. If we trade our best center prospects, I don't want to add Byram to that, that's too much for me. But if Byram is a core piece, obviously someone like Helenius or Kulich shouldn't be added to the deal, but we have a lot of different prospects, plus the same picks.
