Flames are one spot out of the playoffs--why would they trade a key piece to their D?

The issue is the long-term outlook for the team is not great. Also, Flames have a -14 goal differential, so the place in the standings may be a little misleading

Their prospects don't exist because they've already been good for a while, good/cheap/extended roster players are off the table because then they're just filling one hole to create another and their picks are going to be super low and borderline worthless.

I would trade Andersson for Ritchie and Girard ngl.
