The thing with Jarvis, and I completely understand tempering expectations, is he passes the eye test as well as anyone has coming through here recently. Reminds me a lot of Aho in terms of doing all the little things right. Also, he put up 40 points in 68 games despite playing in the bottom 6 with weaker linemates for a significant amount of that time. That's a big jump. We've definitely seen some of these players slow down in their development for a season, most recently Necas.
Doesn't mean Necas will forever be at the point he is now or development won't continue for others, but I think we don't want to rely too heavily on Jarvis to make a leap in scoring just yet.
He's small but he plays the game big, is always in the right place and has great hockey instincts and has a pretty damn good shot too. As he gets consistent top 6 time, gets stronger and his confidence grows I think he'll continue to get better. 30G/70P wouldn't surprise me at all this year. Not penciling those stats in for him but I think based on what we saw from him last year he's more likely to have an ascent like Aho (or his most often comparable, Brayden Point) than Necas was. We'll have to wait to find out but I'm most excited about Jarvis out of any of our young guys.
