Did Morey attend the past two Attack training camps? If so, how did he look?
We only got to see the last camp but IMHO I had him at the very best 4-5 in rookie camp. The top 3 in my opinion were in my order Letournau(only here for main camp),Brennan now signed and then Langdon.

I know the OA forward keeps coming up as Dale DeGray has repeatedly expressed his desire to add one if the right piece comes available but it seems like a bit of a luxury add at this point, no? If we're being realistic our top 6 forward group is pretty well established so the OA is slotting in on the third or fourth line. I have to imagine the goal would be to better equip the third line and push Bonaiuto to the fourth line with maybe some emphasis on the penalty kill? The power play seems pretty stacked with available weapons already.
LOL this is one of the only times my opinion varies from yours. A 3rd quality OA is never a luxury. OA's bring more than what we see on ice to the team. If Dale gets his man he will slot in where Greg sees fit and the lines will be adjusted accordingly. This should really give us 4 pretty solid lines and make some interesting competition for playing time among the bottom 6

Thats a totally fair view. I thought he (Morey) was going to come in and make the team, but he was outplayed by those three. On a side note, is there any other year where the Attack trade 2 guys who could not make their team to other teams? Seems like a luxury.

I agree, I think we could see an overage trade sooner vs later. I would imagine teams want to move guys out soon and if the right guy comes up, it gets done. Imagine the luxury of having a quality overage forward on your third line?

Petrovski - Guindon - Barlow
Goure - Lawrence - Burroughs
Overage - Bryant - Fantino
Bonaiuto - Cormier - Chafe
Tersigni - Brennan

Want Montgomery?
I think they are looking for a forward

Yes a fwd for sure they are pretty happy with d and it's in Jordans more than capable hands to work with them. I don't anticipate any movement on the back end. I was actually expecting more from Morey. When I saw him right from the get go I had my mind made up it was between Langdon and Brennan and then the big man showed up and flashed some skill with the big frame and I was sold on him.

That's a fair assessment. I think the third line would be the likely landing spot for the potential OA acquisition. I don't see the point if they come in and play fourth line minutes. I'm certainly not against adding by any means but I don't necessarily see it as required per se. A veteran add on the third line that can kill penalties and bring experience to a sort of shut down/protecting leads late in the game type of role would make sense. I would think the fourth line would sort of become a bit of a rotation in and out of the line up for the younger players to get everybody playing time until someone solidly stakes a claim to a role.

Just curious your thoughts on the state of our defense. Who is in your top 6 currently? With 8 defensemen rostered two will likely sit opening night if they roll a typical 12F 6D line up. It would seem Rogers won't play a lot in the early going so who else sits? Or do you see some form of a rotation?

I feel it will be a bit of a rotation to start until it works its way out I see Steen and probably Sedley as top pair with Seed and Steingruber possibly 2nd pair all subject to someone stepping up and taking control. Also if we are still short on fwds and Sedley plays there that changes the lineup.

I'm pretty sure at some point Digger said there was a spot left open for an oa forward, one he envisioned to be top 6.

He felt by waiting till all possible were available he'd have his best options available.

Of course, coach will determine where such addition will slot in .

He had no problem last year placing 3 rookies on line 1

Interesting comment about the OA forward being a top 6 candidate. I had assumed the OAs potentially available to be more bottom 6 types but a glance around the league may say otherwise. Barrie, Flint and Hamilton appear to be the best matches for potential OA forwards. Can't imagine Flint would be particularly thrilled with dealing within the conference. Hamilton and Barrie would be more likely.

Barrie has Cardwell, McDonnell, Vierling up front and Lemieux on the back end as OAs

Hamilton has Morrison, Hayes, Diaco, Duarte up front and White on the back end with Costantini in net.

Hamilton is going to have to move a very good player or two. I think between the two teams there may be a couple of potential top 6 caliber players available.

Depending how quickly Lawrence gets up to speed, it could end up being a pretty awesome top 9

Team had about as good of a pre-season as they possibly could, going 4-0-0-0.

The one thing that was very noticeable was the old philosophy of bend but don't break. There was a few times that the team was on the brink of letting emotions runaway in game situations but got them in check very quickly and recollected themselves and were able to get control of the situation and get the W which was good to see.

All 3 goalies played very well in those games and did what was possible keep the games close and give some of the younger guys a chance to get into the flow of the game. Which was all good things to see.

Now we turn our attention to the regular season and an always tough challenge in the Knights. This is going to be a massive learning curve for the 1st year guys in the room playing in a situation where the opponent is a more in your face style of play.

This is the true test of measurement for the guys on discipline and self-control on the ice, and is going to show just how much more difficult the western conference can be compared to the eastern conference.

If they play like they did during this small sample size in the pre-season, then I believe that we can give the Knights fits out there with our speed and gritty style of play. Can't wait for Friday to start this regular season and what looks to be a very exciting year back playing a normal schedule.

I think you spelled it out pretty well here. There's a line between playing a gritty style and playing undisciplined hockey. The season opens against some pretty good teams and avoiding penalty trouble in the early going will be key. Bring on the regular season.

I don't get to overexcited about wins and losses in pre season. I look at other factors and I do like what I saw. First off I believe goaltending is solid for 4-5 yrs the d is still a little inexperienced but are very enthusiastic with Jordan Hill working with them they will get better everyday. Up front will be very strong with the right O/A we will be able to roll out 4 lines and I believe they will all be very solid. I will make 0 predictions as the Western Conference and especially the Mid West Division once again looks crazy there will be NO easy games.

Lawrence, Guindon and Petrovsky all released back to Owen Sound as of today. Uens, Bonaiuto and Jordan's availability is unclear as all three are potentially dealing with injuries as per Greg Cowan's post game article from the Barrie game. Sam Sedley waiting on a potential suspension after the Match Penalty on Saturday. Might be starting the season with only 5 defensemen available.

I think once the season gets rolling and everybody is available we will see a lot of the 11F and 7D lineups. If Dale can add the forward OA he's looking for that may change back to a traditional 12F and 6D.

I think and hope that Sedley will not be suspended, I had a pretty good view of the incident, and Sam hit him in the chest and to be honest, the kid was pushed into him. Lets hope sanity prevails.

Not incorrect, Goure's penalty was certainly earned, but Sedley not so sure given the post above. I didn't think Madden started the fight, but im totally biased :)

I did love how hard that team worked on Saturday and how quite they were to stand up for each other, be aggressive. etc. I appreciate the concern about lack of a true tough guy, but I think the team itself seems to have a very tough element top from bottom. I would assume (and Dale said as much at the Town Hall) that we will see an OA that can add a bit of aggression to the lineup, but this more seems like a team that is tough vs a single tough guy on a soft team, which is nice to see.

Hopefully that's the case. The game wasn't broadcast so not sure how that impacts potential replay availability for official review of situation such as this. I would think there's some systems in place for the league to review the penalty but maybe less angles etc. Would love to have him available to start the season.

I would image the Attack would have video for coaching and such that they could send to the league to review, but that's a guess on my part.

I'm not really sure they need a "tough guy" per se. The modern game is naturally moving away from that. I think the Attack have some feisty guys up and down the line up that aren't afraid to stick up for themselves or their teammates. Madden Steen might be the new "sheriff" in town as Dale DeGray had commented about how he was sort of policing the game on the ice keeping guys honest. When they drafted him he was known to play with a physical edge to his game. He was fairly quiet last season but really seems to be blossoming in all aspects of his game early this year. Hopefully it carries into the regular season.

With our last 3 NHL campers on their way back, it's time to hit GO.

Should be some uptempo practices this week .

I'm surprised there hasn't been any update on this yet. I'm not sure if the video would be able to do much to have it overturned. Although the penalty was for cross-checking, according to Greg Cowan's article, the match penalty was for "intent to injure" which unfortunately is a judgement call by the ref. Correct me if I'm wrong but point of contact is not a factor. There have been intent to injure suspensions upheld where kids have swung their stick at another player or kicked at them without making contact, but the ref deemed the act as "intent to injure."

That being said, hopefully it can be overturned before the weekend but let's not kid ourselves here. Friday's game is in "London." I'm sure Branch has already had breakfast with the Hunters and told them that he is out indefinitely and he will get around to taking a look at the video next Monday.

To be fair, every Match Penalty is for "intent to injure" regardless of what the 5 minute Major penalty was awarded for. It's entirely a judgement call by the officials as you said which in my opinion likely makes it harder to over turn. In the regular season the officials have the opportunity to review all 5 min Majors in game where with this being a pre season game any further review would be done entirely by the league. It's a tough situation and likely why we haven't had any updates as of yet. They have to review any video they may have of the situation vs officials perceived "intent to injure" during a live game. I think being that this happened later in a game with plenty of animosity it makes it harder to overturn.
