Nolan Seed took a pretty solid hit into the boards in one scrimmage hasn't seen the ice since but I saw him afterwards sitting up top watching and looked ok. My guess is it's just precautionary. Andy Brown really takes care of these guy's when Andy says your ok to play you are OK!!! Pre season is the time to get guy's more experience and playing time Seed and Sedley will get tons of ice. Great to see Bryant line was strong I'm guessing we may add an O/A fwd so we should have 3+ solid lines.

The team played about as what we could expect from them in the early stages of the season in a pre-season game versus Barrie.

The older more experienced players towed the game for stretches and the young guys got a big learning curve. But that is to be expected in only a pre-season game.

All in all they played a good road game. It seemed that the Colts game plan was to get under KL's skin and he just played right through it without looking like he missed a beat.

Now the guys have a few days to fine tune some things like all teams at this point of the season before going to North Bay Sunday.

Step in the right direction for the boys.

Lawrence was the main stand out in addition to George in net.

Lawrence was a wrecking ball and very good in the offensive zone. That Goure - Lawrence - Burroughs line will be an impressive 1A line this year.

Thought Madden Steen looked like he's taken a pretty big step as well.

On a side note, with the new ice equipment in Owen Sound I noticed in the camp videos that the ice looked much better. The puck wasn't bouncing around like it tends to do when the weather is warm. Be more of a test with a full house watching a game to see how it holds up over the course of 60 minutes. Have to imagine the ice conditions will be more favorable to the collection of skilled players on the team this season. I would imagine it would be more entertaining for the fans too if the players are able to show case their skills rather than playing chip and chase later in games when the ice quality fades.

I know it’s only one game and what not but if George has a better camp and performance in games during pre season do you make him the backup this year or do you stick with Votary?

In my opinion, it's better to have George go to St Mary's and play a starter's work load. I think the consistent playing time would be better for his continued development than playing sparingly behind Chenard. Chenard will play the bulk of the games this year and the hope is Votary improves enough to challenge for some additional starts.

Next season would be an open competition between Votary and George for the starters role. Chenard graduates at the end of the season no matter what so don't think you give up on Votary at this stage. Give him a run of games to start the year and evaluate around Christmas and could potentially make a deal at the deadline if you need help in net.

McNiven came in at 17 and played well which set him up for success. I think a similar path for George makes the most sense. The organization is obviously very excited about him but I think patience is key.

george wont get a starting role in st. mary's they want to win the championship and with lalama there he wont play much go back to u 18 and win a championshio as a starter and have him develop or find a b team that needs a starter .

15 - 20 games in St Marys is way better then 30 games in U18. He'd just rotate with another U18 guy and split the games anyways.

Yup, thats exactly it. No matter the games he has in St Marys, practicing with both the Jr B team and the OHL team will allow him to be ready to hit the ground running the next year.

Well that throws a wrinkle into my thought process. He needs to play games. I think finding a balance between playing time and the level of competition is the key. I'd just hate to see him get too much too soon at the OHL level like what happened with Guzda when Bowman quit mid season. If he's the back up in Owen Sound and Chenard misses time and he is forced to carry the load it puts a lot of weight on his shoulders at a very young age. He's looked good so far but don't want to do anything potentially detrimental to his development.

Greg Cowan posted an article this evening with some interesting comments from Dale DeGray.

"DeGray said he’s still in the process of trying to sign a pair of prospects. Tomislav Brennan (ninth-round, 2021 draft) and Dean Letourneau (ninth-round, 2022 draft) impressed during the team’s training camp but decided to leave Owen Sound as both players are weighing their options and a potential future in the NCAA."

Explains why we only have 12 forwards so far. No mention of Langdon and I see he's committed to the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL so I would think he's out as well.

I would think that Langdon is the vaccine, which is too bad. He belongs on the team.

Pretty impressive from the player and the team that a 2022 9th round pick looked that good already, not surprsied he has NCAA interest, he was among the best in camp.

Both Brennan and Letearneau came to camp, which is a good thing, they wouldn't have waisted their time if they had no interest.

Agreed on Langdon. He was definitely the top unsigned forward regardless of age.

Brennan exploring the NCAA route makes some sense as he's 17 and potentially joining the Attack as a spare forward to at least start the year. Dean Letourneau is 16 and would have the potential to carve out a long term role on the team. He would need to wait two seasons to go the NCAA route. I think the OHL would be an easier sell in that regard. The NCAA interest may explain how he became a 9th round pick, He certainly didn't look like one in camp.

I think in the big picture view, the Attack have 12 forwards and 12 forwards are eligible to return next season. They have 8 defensemen and 6 are eligible to return next season. There aren't many natural openings coming up with graduations etc so I have to imagine that is part of the decision making process for potential players. This will likely become a bigger issue at the next draft.

Too bad the kid couldn't be allowed to make his own decision. Dad would let his older brother finish his time in Kitchener, because of his beliefs.
Hopefully the kid progresses,.

Praying KL stays healthy I know they were taking his shoulder slow. Your right that give us 2 very solid lines that can put the puck in the net and with the 3rd line they had they can be very dangerous. If Bryant and Lorenzo rub off on Tino that combo could do some damage. I expect Cormier and Tersigni will soon be pushing for more ice with what I see from them.

I'm also going to give a shoutout to I believe his name is Ryan the new arena manager. He bought a nifty little sprayer that they used to paint the White instead of hiring the outside guy. They were also using this sprayer early on putting water down. Apparently thats how the big boys do it. Thin evenly applied layers form a solid even base. Now add in the improved refrigeration and VOILA. Not criticizing Mark at all but sometimes some younger newer thinking is a good thing.

Things have been fairly quiet this week. I still think that DD must be working on some moves/deals. I can't see the team starting the year with only 12 Fwds on the roster.

He did in an interview with Greg Cowan and stated that they were trying to sing Brennan/Letourneau but both players were exploring opportunities outside of the OHL and would require some convincing to sign. He also stated that he would like to add an OA forward but that sort of move would likely have to wait until late pre-season to see who might be available. I think it's pretty clear there's a need at forward as they would need to be extremely lucky to make it a full season with only 12 forwards. It seems Langdon's vaccination issues have also ruled him out.

If they are unable to sign those players then one would assume he will look to bring in somebody from outside of the organization.

Personally, I'm holding out hope they can convince Letourneau to sign. There's a lot of intrigue in a 6'5" centreman at 16 who skates fairly well all things considered. He looked really good in camp. Definitely a move or two to come from Dale.

After watching him in camp, he is a prototypical 'Attack' player .

The fans are gonna love this guy's game. Lunchbucket , hard hat player who will give 100 % every shift .

A little interesting side-note for this season that as of the Brennan signing every single player on the roster (at this point) is an Attack drafted prospect.

I can't remember the last time we had so many of our own prospects on the roster at the same time. This just goes to show how well the scouting staff and management has done over the past 5 years at finding the right mix of players in the draft pool.

Is it a sign of great drafting or over valuing their picks and stubborn to trade picks for other potential better players?

I do believe that OS is great at working with their players over time and not cutting bait quickly.

Not saying either or, just putting it out there.

I think it's a reflection of the quality in the drafts they've done in recent years. I think typically you're acquiring players from outside of the organization to fill holes. The fact that they haven't needed to make trades means that they can keep their picks and be more aggressive in the draft. It's always going to be better to draft and develop a player than have to pay a premium to acquire one.
