When do the OA decisions have to be made by to trim down to 4? Should we expect a flurry of moves in the next 48 hours or so?

Youngest Captain in team history I do believe!!Congrats Colby Barlow. That guy looks 25 lol
Haha. Looking forward to watching him grow and mature this season .Congrats Colby Barlow. That guy looks 25 lol
Nowadays these kids have been groomed and prepared for the next level of their hockey careers. I have no doubt about the teams decision about appointing Barlow the captain.Congratulations to Colby. I really hope they are not putting too much pressure on him with this added responsibility though. The expectations for him were already very high and he was gripping that stick a bit tight throughout the preseason, but did break out the final game. I'm sure he will serve the role well, just a lot to put on a 17 year old. Looking forward to this weekend.
First off let me say I am BIG on toughness but in todays game you can't have just a tough guy. Players need to play the game at a legit level or they handicap the whole team. I believe this team is just fine in the toughness. The biggest factor they can have in reducing other teams taking liberties is to make sure with the weapons they have that the P.P works. Hurt the opponent on the score clock. I honestly can't believe I just said that the game has changed even for us fans LOL.I'm not really sure they need a "tough guy" per se. The modern game is naturally moving away from that. I think the Attack have some feisty guys up and down the line up that aren't afraid to stick up for themselves or their teammates. Madden Steen might be the new "sheriff" in town as Dale DeGray had commented about how he was sort of policing the game on the ice keeping guys honest. When they drafted him he was known to play with a physical edge to his game. He was fairly quiet last season but really seems to be blossoming in all aspects of his game early this year. Hopefully it carries into the regular season.
That was my initial thought as well. I think if they had a suitable candidate that would be a one year captain and then turn it over to Barlow at 18 they likely would have went that route. All of Burroughs, Sedley and Bryant are back next season and it wouldn't make sense to take the captaincy away to give to Barlow. I think it's very clear that Barlow is "the guy" on the team even at 17 years old. He really came into his own late last year and was added to the leadership group in his rookie season which says a lot about what the team thinks of him. You could see the confidence he had off and on the ice by the end of the season. He seems to be a mature young man and I think he'll be fine.Congratulations to Colby. You make a great point. If the power play is lethal, which the team certainly has the weapons, that is a great deterrent. It will take some discipline to avoid the even up calls but could be effective in a different form of policing the game.First off let me say I am BIG on toughness but in todays game you can't have just a tough guy. Nowadays teams don't need goons, but a hybrid lineup of skill, speed and agitators. I believe that this team has that type of players in guys like Barlow, Guindon and Chàfe.That was my initial thought as well. The Attack last season liked to play an in your face brand of hockey last year. Machacek and Woolley were particularly active in that regard, especially in front of the net. They will need to do a good job of managing the game within the game if they want to play that brand of hockey this year. I think if you want to do an effective job in that regard you should be drawing more calls than you take or at the very least break even. It helps to have a good penalty kill. If the penalty kill struggles then they will be forced to tone it down.Nowadays teams don't need goons, but a hybrid lineup of skill, speed and agitators. Teams that win walk the line of game between taking players heads off and getting under players skin. Teams aren't going to avoid penalties in the game these days the difference now is that instead of running around the ice trying to make the big hit teams are more inclined to get under players skin by getting in there way and in there face after the whistle.
Once teams can getting under their skin then it's becomes more of a staple to make them pay with the extra man. But I still believe that you need that contrast to win games. We are a prime example especially in the pre-season we got under both Barrie and North Bay and agitated them all over the ice and we sucked them into calls.
Now on the flip side we also go caught with some of these agitation calls but the successful teams will always walk that line.
The word I'm hearing is Colby is the man in the room and as a 17 yr old he is the guy that holds all his teammates and himself accountable. Just watch this young man he is mature beyond his years. I truly believe there is a reason Colby and Gavin Bryant billeted with Mark Wooley at the Rowe home last year. The other thing that did it for me was the last game last season Colby as a 16 yr old giving his teammates shit because passing him the puck all the time to try and get #30 is not the" right thing to do getting ready for playoffs". CHARACTER!!!!Congratulations to Colby. I really hope they are not putting too much pressure on him with this added responsibility though. The more time I've had to think about it the less I'm worried about it. The Attack roster is comprised of several high character, strong leadership types that will help Colby. He'll have an excellent support group to share the leadership load with and the burden won't fall solely on his shoulders. As you pointed out, he's clearly "the guy" on the team already and I don't think there's any point in delaying the inevitable. This is Colby's team. The word I'm hearing is Colby is the man in the room and as a 17 yr old he is the guy that holds all his teammates and himself accountable. Some additional roster shuffling on defense. Little bit peculiar to move Okitundu out only to add another D
Is he a shut down guy ?hes way better then okitundo
ya, hard to play against, phyiacal, moves the puck. mean at times. Is he a shut down guy ?
That makes top four 20, 19,19, 19.
