A goldfish sprouting from an earth like looking pomegranate eating a tiger whose puking up a tiger that is about to shoot a rifle at a naked lady who's hovering over a rock by the ocean.

Seems about as real as an Oiler defensive gem happening tonight.

As bad as Pickard's NHL numbers have looked in recent years, in the games he's actually started, he is 3-2-1 despite playing on a terrible Detroit squad. Now the stats aren't great as they are 3.36 and .885.

However, in his last five NHL starts he's 3-1-1 with a 2.75 GAA and .901 Save Percentage. Almost Hasek level by this team's standards. All that said his opponents in those 5 games were Columbus x3, Florida and Pittsburgh. Florida is the lone regulation loss however as they chased him with 3 goals on 8 shots in 12:25.

Yeah I feel like we probably win more with the 11-7, I'm surprised everyone hates it.
It's a strange narrative this year, as most seemed to like it last year as our fourth line looks a hell of a lot better when they have McDavid or Draisaitl centering more than half of their minutes.

Pickard can't possibly be worse than Skinners .873 he is rocking so far this season. Or can he lol??

Indeed. What gets lost in the laundry is the Oilers were all over Tampa in the first, were the better club in the 2nd, and then Tamps pumped 4 goals by Skinner in the third.

The Oilers outplayed, outshot, outhustled Tampa through much of the game, and lost due to the weakest spot on the club.

Look at that allstar push across from Skinner on the 3-3 goal. Goaltending like that, its hard to win.
Yup. He's not a starter and dating back to the playoffs it has been those backbreaking goals that he continues to give up. He's not making those key saves when they matter. Outside of a 3 game streak he just had that has been about it since last regular season. Proof his said reg season last year was a complete fluke.

If Pikard can be even average that would be a blessing until Holland can find an actual starter. Big 'If" though. lol

One could easily argue Detroit was even worse defensively than Edmonton is, and in his 6 starts over three years there he ended up .885. Still sucks, but better than .873.

Ahh yes going 11-7 with McDrai not playing well is just a bafflingly dumb decision.

Erne says.... "are you sure about that?"

Isn't that great. Of the 3 goalies we have to choose from not one of them can post a .900. But its definitely Mcdrai's fault for not scoring at historic levels and not carrying the team.

My biggest issue with McDrai this year is that they never seem to score when there's an opportunity to grab a game by the throat and make the rest of it a bit easier. With the lone exception being last week vs. New York.

Just imagine if they score a third goal on one of those powerplays late in the first Saturday. Might have been enough to calm the waters and play a more tidy game 2nd period on. Instead the shit their pants and TBay gets a lucky bounce late in the first and all the good work of the first period is out the window.

With 97 and 29 playing either injured, burnt out or both and misfiring badly right now, why ice a lineup that will rely on them more when the bottom 6 finally looked good last game?

The water here badly infects these coaches minds.....

We don't even have a Kassian to bang around with Tkachuk anymore.

I call 2:45 left in the first period when Bouchard makes his first major gaffe that results in a goal against.

Still I can never predict an Oilers loss so I will go 5-4 Oilers in overtime.
The only positive I can think of is that it gives the coach an opportunity to tinker with line chemistry and try and find combos that work.

Mind you, I hate the 11/7 for the reasons you state, but somethings gotta give eventually.

I also believe that the Oilers need to get Broberg some real looks in the next dozen or so games because Ceci and Kulak are looking like the defensemen we may need to jettison to make any sizeable improvements.

Yah well ive said it before and ill say it again. You can't expect two players to carry the team at all times. When the other 18 players mainly the goalies and defense can't do anything but consistently suck. You have a shitty team. Pretty simple.

Sure, but with a 13% PP by the top unit over the last ten games, they need to look at themselves as well.

I'm 100% in the court that goaltending and defense has hurt us a lot this year, but I'm just not willing to let them off the hook so easy. 2 points by McDavid 5 on 5 in the last ten games!! James Hamblin is one lucky bounce away from matching that.

As big of a McD fan I am, even I think he's been killing way too many plays at the moment. Quit trying to 'get Drai going' by forcing a pass to the guy; you need to get yourself going first.

Other teams. The good organizations dont rely on 1 or 2 players. When their stars go out they find ways to win. Were just not that.

3 goals by 4th liners last game and McDrai get scored on their first non powerplay shift together.
Obviously Mcdavid is injured and Drai has not been nearly as bad as people want to make it up to be. Sit Mcdavid let him get healthy. That doesn't change the fact that the goaltending and defense is among the worst in the league.

We're 3-1 in the last 4 if we can do that consistently the team will make the playoff we outplayed the opposition 3 out of those 4 games and in the one we lost we outplayed them until Skinner to a long nap, all teams give up chances in this league there is no flawless defensive system out there,

Goaltending has been the biggest reason for our 10 losses, the team is not losing because of effort. the team has shown they can outplay the opposition majority of the game. Getting rid of Woodcroft would and did not cure the Goaltending nor will it. We built the team from Forwards out that part is fine, we need a capable netminder that makes up for defensive mistakes all teams make
